VCR? Just wondering if you mean DVR. Very different machines. Do similar things, but very different.

That's probably what he meant, but if they would swap a VCR (cheap, antiquated device) for a registered cable card (expensive, useful, current tuning/control device) it would be a good deal
Still I don't understand having to give up his DVR for a cable card, he gains the in set tuning, but loses the recording ability?

Yes sorry, I meant DVR, and no, I do not need the recorder. I like the simplicity of all the features built in to the tv (ATSC, NTSC, QAM tuners and TV guide).

I am sure customer service knew that I wanted a Cable Card but that apparently got lost in their communication with the local installers (both days). It still seems strange that neither tech knew what a cable card is.

They are charging me only the rental fee for the Card ($2.95) until the DVR is replaced. I still have not heard that anyone in this area has a working Card.
