A La Carte will only work if...

The powers that be do something to control the content providers. As long as Disney/ABC holds cable companies hostage with conditions for ESPN et al, we will never see any real price reform. The same goes for the regional sports networks. As long as they insist on being in a basic tier and charging for all the potential eyeballs watching rather than those who really want to watch, we will continue to pay. Sports programming accounts for around 10 to 20 percent of your bill.

And even if the pricing issues were fixed do you really think the cablecos/sat companies are going to share any of that with subs? NO, it'll go into the FATCATs pockets.
