hint: It was to put ICANN and by proxy the US government in a lose-lose situation so that those who want ICANN gone have an issue to point at. If it gets blocked we blame the government for intervening for the Christians, if it goes thru we point out that all porn sites need to go there for it to be effective and then bitch about the us government intervening for the Christians when the standards get set.

The fact remains that only one group who had direct interest in the xxx domain actually wanted it, and that is the registrar who hoped to make money off of all the people who would feel the need to register the hostname they have under .com and .net under .xxx either to protect their branding as a porn site or to protect their branding by black-holing the domain (ie: microsoft would likely register microsoft.xxx to make it resolve to nothing). It was a bad idea that every anti-ICANN group is going to latch onto as their banner because it looks like a good idea to the general public who doesn't understand that it's existence doesn't mean that you can accurately filter porn just by it's tld.

I gave you a retort you're little news sites didn't give you any preparation for then you resorted to calling me clueless and ignorant instead of saying why I was or why .xxx should have continued to have been pushed thru once it was determined that those who it was marketed to didn't want it and that it wouldn't have solved the thing it was created to solve.

You are. Why else would you, one of the more vocal members on certain issues, suddenly become quiet until a news post falls off the front page once someone calls your bluff.
