| Radio Mobile Question - re: fresnel zone
Anyone know for sure what the Tools - Radio Coverage - Fresnel Coverage indicates? It's not at all like the regular single polar mapping and when it's overlaid on the single polar mapping it appears to be quite narrow in places. Does this need to be used in conjuntion with the polar mapping to find the best spots for a full fresnel zone connection or what? I can't find anything using Google except 3 obscure references to RM updates. Any ideas? |

| I think I see what it's doing. it's telling me where in the polar mapping the fresnel zone back to the AP is below the worse fresnel threshold. Very interesting. Even though some of those areas are inside the high power zone, they need to be noted. I think I'll use this all the time now. cool. Run the single polar then run the fresnel coverage and save that map. may save some head-scratching later on. |

| reply to binary1000 Anyway .... here is an example of the RM plot with the fresnel zone coverage overlay. Do the regular rainbow single polar plot, then do the fresnel coverage plot right over it. If you place SMs inside the black areas and do a Radio Link back to the AP, you'll see that every one of those links has fresnel interference. It gives you a great picture of potental trouble areas inside your coverage zones. |

@12.160.x.x | Very, very cool binary!
Thanks for elevating that onto my RADAR. I did not know that Roger had added that option. |

| reply to binary1000 rawgerz, do the Tools, Radio Coverage, Single Polar, then right on top of it do Tools, Radio coverage, fresnel. The default for the fresnel is black , which works great.
Now just for fun, place the cursor in any of the black areas, select the unit you set as SM (CPE) and click [Place unit at cursor position]. Then do a Radio Link between the AP and the CPE at that location. Anywhere in the black is a potential issue due to fresnel problems. Compare the link to cpe outside the black areas and you'll see what I mean. very kewl. |

binary1000 Premium join:2005-10-04 White Lake, MI | reply to binary1000 You can set RM to draw rings out from the AP and default to miles or foot. Edit - Draw Rings - pick the measurement. Save the map and all settings and it will reload as the default next time you use that map. |
