There are tons of software (Free) that does this. One of them is UltraVNC I use it, my other PC is in another room. What can I say I'm lazy. -- "If it works don't fix it." Computer Consulting for the Next Generation. |

1 edit | Well I already got Real VNC installed and it seems to work alright. The only problem I have is my Kerio Personal Firewall is blocking it and I haft to disable it. Does anyone know how to make Kerio allow it?
Edit: Im going to give Ultra a try though. |

1 edit | The server needs to listen on TCP 5900, and it will get a connection from some random port in the 1024-5000 range on the controlling computer. If your running dhcp you might want to use a range like 192.168.100.1-192.160.100.X(or whatever the range used on your lan is) if the ip addresses of your lan computers change, otherwise static can be set to one address.
The controlling computer is very similar, however switch the ports, the controller will initiate from random port on the 1024-5000 range to 5900 on the server.
I'm attaching an example of the controller config, but this one is on a static configuration, I also have the icmp rule setup so I can ping the other computer to make sure its up.
If you understood how to properly configure your firewall this would be easy as you would have been prompted, or if your rules are too restrictive these blocked communications would be in your logs.
I suggest you start a new thread in the Kerio forum if you need more assistance., making sure to provide at least the version you are using, and try to provide as much information as possible.
BTW, make sure you password protect the server, even if its only on your lan. -- My hourly rates: $25 per hour. $35 per hour if you want to watch. $45 per hour if you want to help. $75 per hour if you tried to fix it, and failed. The biggest error is sitting in front of your keyboard. |
