Re: What is OT and what is a "stupid" question

Tim - That is what I was telling djhurt1 in my post. I like the way you listed out everything, maybe it will make some people feel more comfortable about asking!!! I remember when I first came, I thought I would be trying somebody's nerves too. I am still here, and none the worse for wear. I have spoken at length to many of the people here, on the telephone. I promise this, if you stay around here, you will learn plenty - and have a support system second only to your family.

This is very good of you to say superdog1! You and many others here are very helpful and clearly know lots of what the rest of us want to learn. But I for one am still concerned about testing your (and others) patience. Especially when it is a topic that has been beat to death in previous posts. I do a lot of searches and find that I can't find the appropriate search phrase to get the info I want. I found a site once where a list of the top 50 searches was kept in a list. I could go through the list and was easily able to find the appropriate phrase for my search. The list was all hyperlinks so I would just click and voila there was the juice I was looking for. The saavy posters learned to use the key search phrases in their posts and they would then turn up when you clicked the appropriate top 50 hyperlink.

example:
omni vs sector >> »/nsearch?q=omn···tor&cat=

Of course the address would be replaced by the "omni vs sector" I just don't know how to do it. Who would have guessed that searching for "putty" would get you the same excellent info?

I'm not sure how this would be implemented, maybe in a sticky or as I recall the site where I saw this it was just link beside the search link to a page where the list was kept.
