FVS318

I have a Netgear FVS318 - I believe it is a v1 router. This supports VPN within the router and my question is:

Do I need to use the Netgear VPN client to work with this router or do other VPN clients (i.e., free VPN clients) work with this router?

Since this router supports IPSec VPN protocol, you will be able to use any IPSec VPN software.
I have used the Netgear (& ZyXel) client sucessfully with routers from Linksys, ZyXel & SonicWall.

New Boston, NH		 Cool, thanks for the quick reply. Are there any free vpn clients you would recommend that you believe will work with the fvs318 (I would be putting the client on a laptop - do you know if the XP vpn client works with the 318?

I've never used it myself, but you might try SSH Sentinel.
You can find links to it on this site if you look a little.
