| RE: Lousy, Lousy Tech Support!
Granted, there are idiots and lazy, incompetent individuals within the BellSouth organization, quite a few in fact, unless the problem employees have been reprimanded or terminated. I know this to be a fact because I did tech support for BS FA for almost 3 years and order support for another 1 1/2 years. But there are also lots of people within the organization who routinely go the extra mile in the pursuit of excellent customer service. This I know to be a fact as well. Anyway, the point I am trying to make is that fair is fair. It doesn't seem to me that you gave anyone a fair chance to resolve whatever the problems is. There could be problems with your computer and or home phone equipment causing the problem. In fact, if you had speed issues with Cox as well as BellSouth, that to me is a fair indication that your computer has adware or other malware of some sort causing the speed issue. Was the tech able to surf at the NID (main phone box on your house)? Was he able to surf inside your house on his computer? Has there been any no sync (no signal) problems? Regarding Indian tech support: Do you really believe a tech half way around the world, barely fluent in English, can offer better tech support than someone here in the states? If so, I'd like to sell you some prime Tennessee ocean front property real cheap! That comment you made about Indian support is an insult and a slap in the face to any American who has lost their job to outsourcing. |

| Ummm, Cox works fine.
BellSouth ADMITTED they could not provide service at 11,952 ft (after I told them Covad refused past 11,000 ft). The Manager at DSL was quite nice. He said, there will be NO charge. I was moving so I switched. Cox gives me 4-5/500 on their $39.95 plan. I didn't need the 9/1 again so just got the cheaper plan.
Cox has me back up in about a minute!
My statement on BSL DSL: if over 11,000 ft from the CO, DON'T BUY IT! You'll have nothing but problems and Tech Support will lie through their teeth to keep you.
By the way, a DSL Tech I called this morning said they couldn't give me service either. He said they had been asking for a RT or DSLAM for this far out and corporate has refused. |

| reply to Ron_Hermione The lady in India was real nice. The men need to learn to speak some English.
Also, Tier 2, if you want the truth, actually lied more than Tier 1 (the India TS). In fact, my last call was to the Presidential Line at BSL FA. As far as dispatching a tech: why? Is he going to move the CO within 3,000 ft? NO!
Point is: BellSouth will sell DSL to anytone and counts on the stupidity of the customer to deal with constant issues. I knew better. Cancelled their lying ... and went back to Cox. I'm not looking forward to the Comcast experience.

| reply to Ron_Hermione By the way, the bandwidth usage on my line was 85%. DSL was so bad it knocked down phone calls. That's when the Manager at DSL knew full-well DSL would never work.
I never lost sync lights and my computers are maintained by someone that is MCSE certified. He did take my laptop out to the NID and plugged in. Same problems.
I had no speed issues with Cox whatsoever. I'm on the 4/564 plan and getting 4500/800 speeds even during peak times. |

| 11,000ft will not work. Well that is knew to me.I've been a DSL tech for years now and never heard or used that line.18000 is the status quo but it well work up to about 21000 if the line is conditioned right(no 26 gauge,no load coils, no bridge tap,and external splitter).I'm sorry you never got a competent tech or manager. |

| I have no idea what all that means, but there is no RT so it is 11,952 from the CO.
To be honest, I have NO confidence in those idiots at BSL or BSL FA whatsoever. The Tech told me the problem was no RT close to me.
I even tried Covad and they wouldn't qualify the line and phone number either. I called them to see if I could get it from them first. They said no. Now I know why!
I think BSL FA should KNOW how far you are from the CO and RT and NOT lie just to keep you KNOWING it won't work. Isn't that advertising fraud? I think so.
In fact, I'd rather have AOLHell b4 BSL DSL!
Thankfully, Cox is great here! |
