| [Modem] Replace modem?
I purchased a new system and was wondering if I should also replace my dsl modem. I have a Linksys 5260 which was provided by either Earthlink or Covad, hard to tell from the Dec '00 paperwork. Also have a Linksys NC 100 installed at the same time.
My question is should I upgrade (ie, replace) the modem and NIC?
Thanks in advance for your help. |

| There is no reason to replace working equipment.
BTW, the 5260 is a Modem made by Efficient and it is called a Speedstream 5260.

One further question... yes, it's working on my old system. I'm wondering if I should use them with the new equipment? I mean six years old for this stuff is a lifetime. |

| Until DSL gets faster than 10 Mbps, any old PC with a 10 Mbps Ethernet card will still work fine. I have a Pentium 233MMX that downloads at full speeds on the current 3.0 line I have.
