OneCare is not the only software that will flag VNC as a trojan. PestPatrol will as well.
Well pest patrol flags just about everything. they really need to work on their FP problems.

I never select auto clean on any thing as I don't trust ms. their nice little online option even removed my Plogue Bidule music editing program which does not even connect to the net or call out. It said that it was a trojan which it is not. It is a music editing program that I purchased for making DTS Audio CD's.

This article isn''t about an online anything. if you download Windows OneCare Live, and use it, then you will understand...

This announcement was for the full blown home version not the online version. I'm sure there is an option for auto-clean which you obviously checked. The same is true of trendmicro's houscall online scan. If you check the auto-clean you won't be prompted to remove anything it will just do it.

I tried it and it said that my vnc client was a trojan an removed it with out me even getting a chance to allow the program to keep running.

Now is that a coinsidence or is microsoft stating that any remote client software that they don't have a hand in some way....... they will prevent you from using it as they are not making money from it.

Plasticman
Thats because it is a trojan. VNC clients can be very dangerous to the average personal since they can easily get around hardware firewalls. I also have a vnc client that Windows defender classifies as a trojan. All you had to do was put it in the exclusions list. Do you guys get off by constantly bashing MS before you even think?
Well the online version the MS offers does not allow you to create an exclusion. It just eliminates it. Anything that the online version thinks might remotely be bad it will eliminate it with out asking you and gives you no option to make exclusions

As a mac user, I have used "Chicken of the VNC". Nice little app with low overhead. It's always a good idea to ONLY use the ports necessary to get the job done. Anything else is just leaving the door wide open. I still stand by my mac for 95% of what I do. Yes I have bootcamp installed, but "Tiger" is still my main OS. I DO have open source AV and spyware removers installed under XP and I DON'T LOGIN AS ADMIN! Since I'm not using XP for the important stuff, if it goes belly up, no biggie.

Correction, can be part of a trojan, not necessarily is. I use it for controling my computers remotely over the internet, but, use a VPN to accomplish this.
