| reply to vancom Re: Efficient VS Briteport router
From my anecdotal experience with both of these modems, here is my guess. I have found that in general the efficient is a better router built with a slower processor. It seams to falter at the higher speeds, due to the slower processor, but seams to have more professional feel to it. I would guess that it syncs at the faster speed, but has a problem keeping up on the fast download. You did not mention what speed you have. I have heard that the efficient has trouble at 6mb. Mine was working well at 3mb until Covad decided I was too far from the CO to get 3mb and downgraded me. I had 7db margin, but it worked until something interfered with my line. |

| If anyone is still reading this thread, and the "Efficient router" referenced is a 5861, there is a firmware upgrade which will solve low speed issues at six megs. I use these on both 6016/608 and 6016/768 SBC lines and get full speeds. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |
