voip setup confusion

hi, im really new to voip ... just started using skype and voicestick and caught the craze ...

i was hoping someone here could help me do something i was planning to do .. voicestick gives me a free incoming phone number, but when im out of the country i dont want to be tied down to the computer, so i was hoping to forward the calls i receive on voicestick (or other similar service) to a landline number (without using expensive equipment)

i was hoping i could attach a dial-up modem and extra phone line and find a program that dials out whenever it detects an incoming call (or is there any softphone that will work with a service like this and allow me to execute .exe or other files when a call is received?)

thanks

Wouldn't it just be so much simpler to sign up for a VoIP service that provides forwarding as part of their package?

Voicestick has that facility:

With Global Call Forwarding you don't even need a computer to receive calls. You can automatically forward all your incoming calls to a different phone number anywhere in the world.

For example, you can have all calls to your VoiceStick™ number forwarded to your hotel in Paris, Prague, Hong Kong, etc. for free. You don't pay nor does the caller.

NOTE: If the number you are forwarding to falls outside your calling plan, there will be a charge. In order to forward to a number outside your calling plan you will have to pre-pay into your account to ensure all forwarded calls reach your forwarded number.

Is your goal to completely avoid paying for phone service (i.e. receive calls for free on your VoiceStick incoming number and then dial out for free on your Skype account)?

Just curious (I don't actually have a solution to the above).
