Thanks melissa, but I had a question. Do I need the Java update if I use Sun Java instead of MS Java? Or is it one of those where I should just download it and install it for cover?

I noticed I can have two different Java. The one from MS and one from Sun. I think Sun's Java gives me an option to switch with company's to use in its control panel icon for IE. So, I am going to assume you need this update if you have MS' Java installed.

Oh and no problems with my updates from updates today except Office ones were very slow to download.

Hmm, I'll download it to cover myself then antdude. I love being able to download updates manually, but it seems like the Java one redirects me and there isn't a download for it(for SP 2).

OK, I did run into one problem while updating my systems with Office 2002 Small Business. It seems like if I use bigger download to avoid using CDs, then it failed to install. Smaller packages installed but it didn't ask for my CDs. Uhh, weird. It happened twice already.

I no longer have the cojones I used to, and there's often a foul stench in the air surrounding Microsoft's updates these days, so somebody let me know that they didn't trash your machine, please, before I get mine. Thanks!!

*EDIT* OK, everybody said the water was fine, so I dove in & got mine. Didn't crack my head, managed to survive. Thanks folks, for the "all clear"!

Thank you, melissatrv See Profile for the notices.

Ten updates (don't ask me what ones, I was too busy to really notice) for my Windows 2000 work computer.

Two updates for Microsoft Office.

All twelve updates installed and a reboot was required. All is well as far as I can tell.

If later all is not well, I didn't do it.

All the patches installed fine except the Windows Genuine Advantage Notification Tool. I thought it was supposed to validate my O/S. I am running XP SP2 on a Dell laptop, so I know my O/S is valid. I do not mind if Microsoft validates my O/S but what happens if their tool does not work correctly? Any idea if I should worry about this? Thanks

So far so good. All are installed. No reboot yet though. I am into something and cannot stop at this point. Later...and I am going to go on the presumption there won't be any foul ups this time.

Thank you, Melissa.

Nine updates installed manually on a test machine without apparent problems.

I, once again, declined the odious WGA notification tool.
