| Advice: Runaround on Comcast - new construction
Hello, and thanks for reading.
New construction, with an original survey 18 months ago pre-construction. I spoke with the field tech 18 months ago while he was standing on my property. I actually have a right-away on my property where cable runs. He said "no problem".
18 months later - I ran cable (and fiber) to the street during construction. I have confirmed that people across the street have had Comcast. Also confirmed that people three houses down (perhaps 200 feet max) also have Comcast. Unknown on house next door.
Comcast performed another survey and would like $3,000 to run cable to my house - xxx feet elevated and around 600 for something else. The quote never made it to my house so I can't quote.
I am getting a ton of run-around, and can not get the correct people on the phone. I think it may be possible that they did the survey on the wrong address, but I can't get any help.
I am very happy with my existing Comcast service (which happens to be 1,800 feet from my new home), and want to stay with Comcast. I did spot Verizon techs running fiber on Friday...
Does anyone have any advice? The correct department to speak with? Anything at all? I am trying our Comcast business contact as we have a few thousand home installs for employees.
Thanks for your time!!! |

1 edit | sounds to me like you ran the wrong type of cable. coatsville i believe is 150 feet max for rg-6 cable 225 feet max for qr320. anything over that needs hardline. what type of cable did you run and whats the distance from the nearest pole with cable on it. fiber to the pole isnt doing any good to comcast. stop in at your local comcast office and ask to speak to the construction supervisor. |

| reply to rody_44 I'm actually in West Caln, which is rural, not in Coatesville the town. Right on RT 340 if you have any info on that...
As for FIOS - They had scheduled to do an install and then called back saying they had a "System Glitch" and it was not yet available. They did just dig up the street three houses down so my fingers are crossed for the future.
Thanks again |
