| [Connectivity] Bay Area maintenance on 06/14 ?
Can anyone confirm whether or not Comcast had some sort-of maintenance being peformed in the Bay this morning, maybe around 0300?
For over 45 minutes I had absolutely no connectivity to my home PC. Cable modem logs show no disconnects, which seems to imply the issue (maintenance or otherwise) was specific to IP traffic.
Things recovered at approximately 0415 PDT.
Packet loss at hops #11 and #12 is normal; it's probably ICMP limiting.

| reply to koitsu Yes, I had a hiccup around that time as well.
My network went dead on one PC, but my Mac was fine. I plugged the ethernet cable into the second NIC on my PC and everything worked, so I initially thought something had gone wonky with the NIC and/or its drivers. A reboot didn't fix it, so I forced the NIC to fetch a new IP...(issued its IP to the other NIC and then renewing the lease.) |

1 edit | reply to koitsu Wasn't able to post this because I couldn't access my home machine.
I called 888-COMCAST, went through the menus, and was told by an automated message that "there was problems with HSI in my area and that technicians were engaged/trying to fix it by morning".
24x7 Live Comcast support was completely and entirely 100% useless, telling me and I quote "I just work in a national call center, so I don't know about outages".
Full details I have at this point are what you see in the above paragraphs, and these exact time ranges:
0327 to 0418 0442 to 0559

| reply to koitsu I experienced the same thing this morning. When I turned off my computer last night, I had internet. This morning...."No Connection". Modem had a connection and router had a connection. Did a hard reset on both, and restarted my machine...still says "no connection". Everything looks normal, except for no connectivity to my machine. I have released and renewed a couple of times, Still nothing. I've tried skipping the router and plugging in straight from the modemn, still nothing. Some answers from comcast would be nice. This reminds me to call them to ask to be put on a promotional deal, because their servic e isn't worth $45 a month. |

| reply to koitsu The automated message I mentioned here: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,16299328;iframe=1#16300073 still plays.
Finally got a hold of someone at my local Comcast office (no answer earlier this morning; probably no one there). His name was (what sounded like) "JB".
I asked what was going on, and he said it was a "router being replaced at the head end". I asked if by router he meant IP network router or some sort-of cable or coax router/switch. He said it's IP network, and that connectivity may come and go. He then chimed in with a comment along the lines of "I'm not sure why they decided to do this now..."
That caught me off-guard.
I asked if this was scheduled maintenance, or if it was an outage. He said he'd have to re-read the notification he received. A few moments later, he said and I quote: "It's scheduled." -- Making life hard for others since 1977. |
