This looks like a cool place to visit. Maybe someone here knows of this place?

Is that the court house in Summersville?

I used to go there on business (Summersville mem hospital) years ago - really nice people there!

lol well if it's the place I think it is something has changed a wee bit, I can't put my finger on it exactly but something is different, but I do believe this place is located in Summersville. Yes?

Yes, this is the courthouse in Summersville. My dad took the shot when he was there for his High School reunion back in May.

If that shot was taken in May I guess I need to get out more. lol I was pretty sure it was the courthouse there but something just looks different about it from the way I remember it. Nice shot btw.

I really liked it there - I used to take old 60 over the hills past Hawk's Nest instead of going down to Beckley and taking 19 north. It was slower, but sure worth the trip in scenery - even when I was behind a coal bucket tripping over the hump

Actually, I'm from southwest of Columbus, OH - but I used to have customers as far out as Beckley, and used to go down to WV quite a bit. there were a few mainframe (computer) systems, and a lot of mid-range systems that I helped set up and support hardware, networking and software. I had coal mines, hospitals, trucking companies, banks, industrial and distribution customers.

Ohh, well, that's cool too, that you know the area. and it is indeed a beautiful place. to bad it took me with a camera and 40 years later to realize that.

Yup that be the one. I don't think anyone goes around there much anymore, someone evidently takes care of it, keeps it painted and looks after it, but there never seems to be anyone around it anymore.

Ahhh, but you feel, smell and look first with your eyes and your heart, enjoy, and then capture through a viewfinder. You still have lotsa time to discover the beauty and wonder in the people and things that seemed ordinary in times past!

EDIT - gotta go there again, maybe Judy is still the systems admin at SMH and we can say hello...

From what I understand, there is a fund of some sort, that keeps the place up. I'm not sure on this part, but I think it's also listed as some type of historic site.

Ahh yes, that street shot looks familiar, if you're ever there again stop into that restaurant in the pic called Fran's and try her hot doggys. Indeed they are the best I've ever ate. And she's a cool lady as well. Tell her that her music teacher sent you.
