I'm in Connecticut...I've had Comcast for about 6 months..the 6 meg package, for the first few months I'd always benchmark at Speakeasy's NYC server at 6200/340.
Several weeks ago someone mentioned the "bursting" upgrades from Comcast. I went and benchmarked at Speakeasy again..and for several days straight I saw about 25,000/350.
This past week...I've been doing daily tests..and I'm now punching up into the 60,000/350 range...even a few times I'd creep up over 70,000/350.
Those of you with older slower routers will not notice it..because slower routers simply can't handle the throughput...they'll peak out around 10 or 20 megs...if not less for really old routers. I'm seeing this increase using both a Linksys RV082 router (can handle up to 200 megs throughput), and an IPCop *nix based router running on a 866MHz.
Here's a screenshot from a few minutes ago.... |
