Re: Maxis and Celcom HSDPA Launch?

I guess Celcom was first to get their network up.No way they'll be able to offer 3.6Mbps, but if they can get close to Streamyx speeds, that'll do me

Any idea on the pricing for the service?

Press Release

Celcom launched High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) services in Malaysia. With Nokia's (NYSE:NOK) HSDPA solution, Celcom will be able to operate its network more cost-efficiently and offer its customers data services at speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps in June 2006, and this would be almost ten times faster than 3G speeds. The operator is launching three exciting 3G services, namely, "Xpax Legenda Tan Sri P. Ramlee", "Marvel Mobile" and "Disney".

"It is great to be able to support operators, such as Celcom, in bringing faster and better quality mobile services to consumers," said Bill Chang, Country Director, Malaysia, Networks, Nokia. "This deal further strengthens our ties with Celcom, and shows Nokia's commitment to bringing the most advanced mobile services to fast growing markets in Asia Pacific."

Apart from supplying to Celcom's expanded radio network, Nokia is also supplying the core network equipment to expand Celcom's current 3G network to four new regions. This effectively achieves nationwide coverage for the operator. Under the agreement, Nokia is supplying the Nokia HSDPA solution with 3.6 Mbps capability, a radio access network and transmission from its radio network portfolio. From its Unified Core Networks portfolio, Nokia is providing its MSC Server mobile softswitch, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and Flexi Intelligent Service Node (ISN).

Re: Maxis and Celcom HSDPA Launch?

hehe, now time to serious saying things...

seens most streamyx area already adsl 2+led,so when hsdpa lunch in mass market, the adik simply need to raise the speed to 4m or ++,still can retain their custumer, even though adsl 2+ actualy can offer speed as higher as 25m ,the tactic dirty?yes!but what can we do....

about xg,i hear their already have some kind xg router just like cable n dsl,and if the hsdpa be mass market accepted, those xg isp also can offer subcard just like digi did,one of thing make me stick a little longer to streamyx is currently the xg are still not so linux friendly to set up a connection.
