My Viatalk Phone Service is Dead

Well I'm located in Western Massachusetts and just discovered my phones have been dead for the last hour!!
Opened up a ticket so I guess I'll see how good Viatalk's support is. I'm pretty sure the problem is on their end. I rebooted the phone adapter and tried a new phone directly and still no dial tone, internet service is fine.. All my incoming calls have been forwarding to my cell phone since I had that set up as a default when service is down, it a good thing I had it on, took me a while to figure out why I started getting so many cell calls.. Well in the last couple of months my phone service has been down or interrupted more than the last 30 years all together with Ma Bell. Guess it'd true you get what you pay for.

Re: My Viatalk Phone Service is Dead

My Sipura 2002 died in the middle of a call. Took me 10 days to get a new adapter. So hopefully your issue isn't the adapter.

Well mine is up and running, so at least it's not system wide. What happens when you take the router out and hook up the adapter straight to the modem?

Well I started the thread so I'll update my experiece.
My service remained down for about 2 hours then returned. The problem WAS NOT on my end. I had opened a ticket which triggered an email asking what phone agapter I had. In my reply I informed Viatalk that my service had returned and never recieved any reply as to why it was down.I'll stick by my original message because I still believe I'm getting what I paid for, now is it good enough the jury is still out, is it as reliable as my old Ma Bell Phone...No Way!! not at this point.

Re: My Viatalk Phone Service is Dead

What you have to remember is that the phone line is just that, a phone line. VOIP relies on not only your internet provider, but also your VSP. So that's already one extra party in the mix. Therefore if any one of the two has a problem, (which is 2X more likely then your phone) then you're going to have downtime. If you really want less risk of downtime but like voip why not try a digital phone provider like your ISP (if they offer it). At least then again you only have one company providing your internet and VSP, so less risk of downtime.

Finally just because you went down but your internet was fine it still doesn't mean it was on their end. It could have something to do with your ATA not registering properlly.

Sorry if I had a dollar for everytime my VOIP had been down for a hour in the past 4 years I could easily pay for a year of ViaTalk
