| [ViaTalk] syllable clipping
I have a PAP2 set up with a static IP under the DMZ of a DI-524. I have run testmyvoip and have posted the link below: »testyourvoip.com/details.html?id=J09IBK
Every now and then I get a clip syllable every couple of minutes? Any suggestions? |

Enable UPnP and gaming mode. It should work better for voip. |

1 edit | reply to ptrowski Nope..Sorry should have clarified...When I'm talking to them they can hear my voice clip slightly every couple of minutes. Not so much as they can't understand me though. Sometimes the reverse will happen and the person I'm speaking to will clip but not that ofter. I will try to post a link that people can listen to if I can get the call record to work? Thanks
P.S. Already checked my router and UPnP and gaming mode were already enabled |

| reply to italkvt Are there any other computers on the network the same time you are on the phone? I don't believe those routers have QoS, right? It may just be that every so often, your bandwidth will get used by some other application, and it'll make the voice sound choppy. |

| What's your upstream on your ISP? If it's pathetic like most are, it's worth a shot. Pickup one at CompUSA (if you have one of those around) and you'll have 21 days to see if it fixes the problem or not. And if not, you may want to consider a router that has QoS, as (most) D-Link's don't. |

| reply to italkvt it probably is just perfectly naturally jitter and the only main setting to handle it is your jitter buffer setting
It looks like you already have a great connection, with 4.4 on both legs of the test call to Boston, so your hardware is probably set up as optimally as it can be |

Thanks The 5 ghz phones only use the frequency in one direction and still use 2.4 in the other, or so I have read .. so they still can have interference with the router |

On the "SIP" tab of the Advanced Admin page, the "RTP packet size" is shown. |
