| PSP Question
Is the software that you use Paint Shop Pro? I went to Corels web site out of curiosity and they had Paint Shop Pro X. The price was $99.00. Is this right or is there another program? I was under the impression that it was much more expensive. I noticed there are other programs also. I would like to get into this more when I get another computer (whenever that will happen). Right now I dont have enough of a system to handle it. What programs would you recommend to start with? -- I have a great memory.....It's just short!

| JASC sold out to Corel around version 9 I think, but PSP X is still the same thing. Personally, I was disappointed when I heard Corel bought the product because it seems like they are the bone yard of products. -- Team Discovery Project Hope |

| reply to CCat Jasc PSP9 comes with Animation Shop and can now be found pretty cheap on Amazon. Corel X does not have Animation Shop and also even if pay for it separately doesn't have the intuitive export to AS that comes with 9. I uninstalled Corel X and haven't installed it back. However the Gimp has been compared by some to Photoshop and is free. Some artists use Fireworks too. I use a combination Photoshop and PSP -- Spare computer cycles can help find answers Join a Club

| reply to CCat Heck, I'm still running PSP 7! I'm primarily using Photoshop now, but that's got a VERY steep learning curve to it.
A good place to look for older versions of software at a sweet price is on eBay. -- Utilikilts - We Sell Freedom! |

| reply to CCat I started out using PSP 9 with Animation Shop. I upgraded to PSP X which I really like now that I have gotten use to it.
I am able to use it with Animation Shop. Hawk told me to keep PSP 9 installed and when I wanted to send something from AS to open PSP X first and then to export AS graphic to PSP. It will export to X as long as you have X open. To get it back to AS, you close the graphic in PSP and say don't save changes and yes to update AS.
My suggestion would be to get PSP 9 as it comes with AnimationShop. You should be able to find it at a good price. Then if you like that, maybe upgrade to X keeping 9 installed so you can use AnimationShop easily. -- Team Helix ~ Extended Pacific Northwest ~ Northern California |

2 edits | reply to CCat PXPX isn't worth it if you can find PSP9 with Animation Shop (not used) I'd try to go that route. I bought PSPX without realizing it didn't have animation shop. Luckily I had PSP8 which came with AS3. Currently I have PSPX, AS3 and Photoshop Elements on one Pc And PSP8, AS3, Fireworks on my second one.
I basically use PSE to put most of my avatars together. And really only use AS3 if I want to adjust the individual frame speeds since PSE can't do individual frame speed just one set speed for each frame. Animation Shop also comes in handy for adding scrolling marquee and other text effects. As well as Image transition and image effects applied to every frame. -- "Sir SIR! We don't use DHCP servers.
