| magnets and hard disks
just bought a capdase leather case (see here : »www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipod/r···g-ipods/) for my 5G ipod video and noticed that it has 2 magnets to keep the lid down. it immediately reminded me of an argument that i had with a friend of mine many years ago. how wise is it to keep magnets near hard disks? at that time i got it into my head to place a few fridge magnets on my pc casing. he told me its bad idea and that i might screw up all the data in it. since the ipod video is hd-based will the case affect my mp3s? |

| I "think" that it won't affect it because they are such low powered magnets. From what I remember inorder for it to affect the drive the magnets have to be more powerfull then the ones that are already in the drive. -- Ricky SmithVerizon FIOS User15 Mbit Down 2 Mbit Up |

| reply to hellfried won't affect the hard drive at all....they have to be significantly more powerful than the ones in the drive....I remember taking a subwooder with a huge magnet on it and waving it in front of a monitor and it caused tons of distortion to the monitor...thats the type of magnet you need to keep away from it -- Don't be reckless with other people's hearts.
