Re: DI-624 c - NEW FIRMWARE 2.75b2

said by rossini :

why the messenger keeps restarting?
If you mean that messenger gets disconected and has to re-login, then your router is rebooting and the cause is the Dlink firmware. You can change versions or try and find settings that your router can live with. Usually disabling SuperG, enabling GamingMode and enabling UPnP.

Good luck

But by rebooting the router would have to restart where you can see the lights being affected but thats not the case, anyway i will try to remove the superg but whats the point of having the tech and not working properly?

Hey, I didn't build it and sell it to you. You can always call Dlink

no-ip.com DDNS is definitely broken in 2.75.

Well, as far as I can tell, the 2.75 (For USA) is not a beta any longer. D-Link lists it as an approved download on their site.

So I upgraded and set everything up correctly. SSID turned on and MAC filters turned on. To start with, I have never experienced any rebooting problems before. Now the 624C was rebooting every 10 minutes. One of the laptops (HP using Broadcom) couldn't connect all the time. I upgraded the Broadcom drivers and still no luck. Now this was one wireless unit out of seven that could not connect. None of the "old fixes" made any difference. I could not stop the re-booting and the one laptop would not hold a connection. Even placing the laptop on the desk 2 feet from the router did not help.

After banging my head to a bloody pulp for 2 days, I did a crash recovery back to version 2.71. Every unit (including the HP that was having problems) connected immediately. The router has been stable (no rebooting) for 5 days now.

My opinion is that the firmware 2.75 should still be in the lab and not in the customers routers. There is no reason for this failure and the others that I have been reading about. I am going to implement my old standards with this router - If it ain't broke don't mess with it!

No change log but some bugfixes in wireless setup are mentioned.

Important notes 2.76b05:
- With a freenet Internet entrance you leave the field ¡§service name¡¨
under Home - WAN (- PPPoE) or in the Wizard absolutely empty.
- M öc hten you a permanent Internet entrance furnish, soda?that
rout always on-line is, wählen Sie unter Home - WAN (- PPPoE)
"Always On" aus und tragen bei Idletime eine "0" ein.
- Target rout after a certain time of the Inaktivit ät
the Internet connection separate, w äh len you under Home - WAN ¡§Connect on and¡¨
out and register with the Idletime gew ün the schte time (minutes).

D-Link changed the Canadian web site to look exactly like the american one, so no previous firmware versions are available now at the Canadian support site.

But firmware version 2.71beta is available at ftp.dlink.com

@Talon88

these are some advice for german users. Some of them have no flat rate. They pay by time they use their broadband connection. So they have to take care for the router disconnecting if they stop surfing.

I tried the firmware and it's almost the same as 2.75. They only fixed the bugs in the web-menu.

Can you disable UPnP with the new firmware 2.76b05 without the router randomly rebooting?

I just loaded the f/w onto my Dlink. Disabled UPNP. Will post back after I have had an opportunity to "kick the tires".

2.76b05 looks stable. UPnP is disabled, no reboots. Been running BiTorrents and Limewire and 2 VOiP software. All of them seam to be humming along and not complaining. I haven't tried tried any VOiP calls since it might fail and would be understandable BUT the Skype test call did work fine. No reboots and all is fine. Using PPPoE for this test.

The funny thing is that port 113 reports as closed instead of the usual no-response. I just forwarded it to a non existing local IP and it's completely stealth now.

As for gaming mode, I always thought that enabling it would disable SPI firewall and free up more resources. After a few minutes I noticed things where locking up and decided to disable gaming mode. That fixed everything!

Now only time will tell and I will test some more with heavier P2P.

Peter

EDIT: Still buggy: wireless IP can't ping wired IP!!!!

With 2.76b5, my wireless PCs still lose access to my wired PCs after some time (less than a day).

I actually don't have any problem.

I think it's related to hardware.

I m using C1

2.76b5 now running for 3 days. No problems connecting with Atheros wireless card and Intel 2200BG + 2 wired clients.

My wireless PC can ping wired hosts and there is no difference with or without UPNP enabled.
I'm not running P2P.

Seems to be a stable firmware for me.

Just installed this firmware 2nite, its seems good so far very stable. Will see if I get anymore d/c on msn as the weekend goes by.Also for the Post above about the MSN disconnects was just that not internet also no reboots in log. The good thing about this firmware is your saved 2.75 config will work if u load it.

Revision C3 Also no-ip.com DDNS works in this firmware

What settings are you guys using? I just installed the beta firmware a couple of days ago and am still getting reboots pretty often. The only firmware that was really stable for me was 2.70...but that one performed slower compared to the newer ones, in my opinion..
