Re: DI-624 c - NEW FIRMWARE 2.75b2

It seems I too am experiencing buttons malfuntioning in Firefox. The buttons on the Advanced Tab do not appear while accessing the interface with Firefox. They do appear, and function properly, when accessing the interface with IE. Does anybody know what is causing this problem? Other than this, firmware_275b2.bin is working very well and seems very stable. It also seems faster than the earlier firmware I was using (2.71b11).

Found another problem.
It seems the Tools/Time does always go back to 2002/april each time the system is restarted (ex: when i set the DDNS and save the system is restarted and the time changes to defaul value!)

Nothing big bug a bit strage.

I flashed "di624_revC_firmware_275b2.bin" 2 days ago and so far it has been running smoothly.
Only problem i am facing is that in Firefox many buttons do not work. Clicking on them does nothing while in IE they work ok.
For example the buttons in Staus/Log such as "First page", "Last page" etc do not do anything in Firefox while it works in IE. Same with some other buttons.
Other then that its working good for now.

JTS33 -- Thanks for the reply. I think you are right about my DHCP issue affecting only one computer rules out a 624 problem. It has been a day since I change the 624 setting from Static to Dynamic DHCP for the computer that would lose the folders and internet access, so far no problems. The other PCs are still set to Static DHCP. Strange.

In my case when the folder disappears the internet can not be accessed by the client with the missing folders. The 624 shows the client connected but a PING to client fails. Doing a “repair” of the connection (drop the link and requesting IP, etc.) reestablished the folders and internet connectivity.
When my shared folders disappear on the network, the client containing the shared folders can still access the Internet. And repairing the connection/rebooting the computer doesn't do anything...only a reboot of the router gets the shared folders to reappear on the network.

I'd say you have a different issue, since it only happens to one of your notebooks and all access is lost (not just to the shared folders) when it does happen. I've experienced this as well when resuming from standby...the wireless connection looks to be active, but there's no access to the WAN or LAN. And repairing the connection takes care of it.

For those having the folder problem, does it only happen when using Static DHCP or Manual IP addresses? When the folder disappears, can the PC or Notebook connect to the internet?

The 624 is set for Static DHCP assigned IP addresses. Could there be a problem with the 624’s Static DHCP function? I have fw 2.70 in my DI-624C and use shared folders on 5 clients (2 wired PCs and 3 Wi Notebooks) and a network print server (DPG-310). I’ve only noticed this problem on one of the notebook clients. I set this computer to normal DHCP vs Static to see if corrects the problem.

Hey, wanted to post in your crash recovery thread(s) but this silly board won't let me.

Pretty dumb.

ANYHOW, I tried many times and eventually gave up, rebooted several times a day and drove me up the wall. Recently I gave it another shot, did the directions perfectly and installed older firmware (2.53) and the router has had perfect uptime for over a month now.

I'm weary about trying this new firmware....I want to upgrade because of the new features, but then again I don't want my router breaking again straying from 2.53...
Well, damn, so much for that...suddenly its rebooting again

Well, I use a wired router that has a built-in print server to share a printer. It has manually assigned LAN IP and it disappears within 2 hours after the di-624 has been switched on. Just like your shared folder. Now... will Dlink fix this? Can we find a workaround in the meat time?

JTS33 and Decane,
have your disappearing shared folders been on PCs with a wired connection and a manually configure(not DHCP requested) IP address?
Yes, you're exactly right.

Ha! That's funny we experience the exact opposite behavior (my Windows shared folders disappear after some time with 2.75b2 but not with 2.71b11).

Anyone else rely on Windows shared folders on their network? It would be nice to know what your experiences with the 2.71 and 2.75 firmwares have been as well.

2.75b2 does have the issue of Windows shared folders disappearing from the network after some time (manually rebooting router gets the shared folders to reappear). I had this issue with 2.5x firmware versions, but not 2.71 firmware versions. Since 2.75b2 looks to be derived from the 2.5x line, I'm not too surprised.
FWIW, WPA2 + AES is now working after a few days of being idle...that's with my Intel 2915ABG mini-pci card and the latest Intel driver package v10.1.1.3.

Are you browsing other machines or are you trying to access the share directly via Start->Run?

Also does anyone know how to fix the startup error on the Router Connection Monitor? It keeps coming up with a runtime error 339 and that "RICHTX32.OCX or one of its dependencies not correctly registered".

I have the exact opposite, windows shared folder DOES NOT disappear with the 2.75beta, but with all other versions i have, they all disappear (well except 2.42)
That's interesting. I didn't get the disappaering act with 2.71b10 and 2.71b11, but I do with 2.75b2. Assuming your router is stable and doesn't randomly reboot itself, have you allowed a couple days to go by to see if the Windows shared folders are still visible?
