[Spyware] Network1.Popups in Yahoo! Anti-Spy

I did a scan with the Yahoo! Anti-Spy software and I got one adware entry: Network1.Popups. I go through the removal process but when I do, my browsers can't load any web pages. My connection still works (I was downloading a torrent at the time). I restart the computer and it doesn't boot up. It just hangs and all I see is my wallpaper and nothing else. Not even my Start Windows sound plays.

I fix the problem by rolling back to a "Last Known Good Setting", but the file still shows up. I scan with Spybot S&D, Adaware and Windows Defender as well as Yahoo and none of them say a thing, just Yahoo. Doing a bit of research about the file pretty much only mentions information in the PestPatrol forums. The information isn't very good, some considering it a false positive.

Does anyone know a bit more about this file so that I can find out if this is really something that I should deal with or just a false positive to ignore? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

it sounds like the old pestpatrol false-positive.. can you post a log of what was flagged?

here is what pestpatrol flags on my pc.. the two items being flagged were added to IE's "restricted sites" zone by IESPYAD..

Adware "Network1.Popups" found in:
key "hkey_current_user \software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\internet settings\zonemap\domains\media-motor.net"
key "hkey_current_user \software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\internet settings\zonemap\domains\popuppers.com"

This is the only entry I get.

javamoon, you could look to see if "media-motor.net" is in IE's "restricted sites".. if it is, it was probably put there by IESPYAD.. if "media-motor.net" is in IE's "trusted sites", you can manually remove it from IE's "trusted sites"..

maybe one of the regkeys that i listed was already removed when you allowed the "yahoo antispyware" to clean your pc, before..

Media-motor.net is already in my restricted sites settings, but I still get the adware result in Yahoo Antispy.

javamoon, if the only item that is being flagged is the media-motor registry entry cited above, it is a "false-positive".. you can ignore it..
