| [S@H] New Windows Optimizing Clients are out!
They have released new clients for Intel and AMD. »setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/forum_t···0#360541 I'm going to play around with it and see how they work. Since these are based on the 5.15 WU we may have to let our WU's run out before installing the new clients. I'll post more as I get them running.
EDIT: I installed the clients to two of my P4 D's without any problems. It replaced Crunch3r's client and picked up where it left off. It's best to make a backup before trying the new clients just in case. It's too early to tell the difference, if any, between the two clients. I'll know more after it crunches a few WU's. In case you're not sure, the client goes here. X:\Program Files\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu

| Thanks, Fred! Just loaded the P4M version on this Core Duo laptop, before going to bed. Looks like it still uses 5.12 to crunch through the existing wu's. Won't get to play with it much on this laptop, as I had just set it to no new work, and attached to the beta project again, since 5.17 is going to beta here sometime soon.

| Paul, so far I can see a little faster completion times. At least we have something new! I have it on four systems. 3 SSE3 and 1 SSE2. He also posted the source code for his clients. |

| reply to Sat_Man Added it to my D @4GHZ, it was running Crunch3rs 5.12 client, KSWN's 5.15 picked up where it left off, and is crunching away.
On the Penitium M version, there must be something cpu specific, since my Core Duo was running Crunch3r's 5.12 app, it decided to finish my cache with that cleint, instead of picking up on the existing cache with KSWN's app. Ahh, well, the point is moot, as the official 5.17 app is soon to be in beta, it sports a 14% increase in credit, we'll need an optimized version of that fairly soon.... then we'll be.... Good To Go....

| reply to Sat_Man My little flotilla is now armed and running. Since I just got them set up it is too early to tell much but I may have to swap my pet names around a bit. It looks like slowest is taking to it better than slower. They are both using just the SSE client.
My newer computer (slow)is an AMD Sempron. It can do SSE3 but I had to load the SSE2 client since they didn't have the SSE3 for AMD yet. Looks like I'm gonna be crunching a bit faster now on all three of my machines. |

| reply to Sat_Man I am running the AMD SSE version on my Athlon XP 2700+ system. It gives a small increase in performance over the standard app, about what I expected. Nothing dramatic, but an increase nonetheless. -- Proud member of the Cajun Crunch Team |

| reply to Sat_Man I only loaded it on my 920D and I've never logged results so it's kind of difficult to compare to the Crunch3r app.
Some AR's seem faster, some slower. Definitely comparable though -- One has to multiply thoughts to the point where there aren't enough policemen to control them - Stanislaw Jerzey |
