Didn't I read somewhere that re-enforcing the Louisiana levies would have cost way less then that "road to nowhere" fiasco? Now if you listed to the whole speech (www.twit.tv) the guy just sounds even worst then the youtube clip. He sounds completely disoriented! This guy can't be allowed to sit in the government of the world's largest and most influential super-power. Come-on USA citizens, please do something cause we sure can't!

| It's worse than just "tubes" versus "pipes." He actually seemed to describe* a system where data entered a tube, queued up one at a time, and got clogged up by "massive amounts of data" being dumped into other tubes. He spoke of how his staff sent him an internet (his word) on Friday morning, but he only got it a few days later because his personal internet (again, his words) was clogged from all of that commercial stuff on the Internet. It's such a huge lack of understanding (or perhaps a telco-sponsored understanding) as to be humorous. At least, until you realize that his lack of understanding is going to translate into bad federal regulations concerning the Internet.
* If you could ignore the stuttering and "uhs" and repeated words enough to actually comprehend what he was saying. |

| yeah i agree. at least to me the dumb part of this wasn't the tubes comment, but rather his erratic and not to mention ignorant explanation of why an email (assuming that's what he meant by internets) took a day to get delivered instead of a few minutes/seconds.
He also didn't specify if the delay was due to him not checking his mail often enough or whether the email was just delayed in routing. My money is on there being no e-mail and instead he just didn't listen clearly or pay enough attention when the lobbyist was describing this BS story to him |

I've heard somewhere that 98% of incumbents are re-elected... Assuming that is accurate, that right there would raise a flag in my mind. THINGS CAN'T CHANGE if 98% or elected officials are re-elected time after time. Also makes it difficult to adapt to changes in the modern world (I know, it sounds cliche). Possibly the system makes it too easy for the incumbent to focus on re-election other then then taking the hard choices. I think the way the officials are re-elected can be something all USA citizens can have a word to say about.

LOL, and some Americans want to export their democratic system to countries that "need it"!?! Ok I shouldn't laugh, this could start into a flame war.
But on a more serious note, have you watched the BUSH/German chancellor press conference that was featured last night on Jon Stewart? An American journalist was asking a serious question to the US president regarding the middle-east and he answered something like:"I thought you where going to ask me about slicing the pig?". Could he have been expecting a rehearsed question or an easy question just because the journalist was American and gotten a surprise REAL question instead? Either way, it was funny, but didn't sound very good.
