TW has been in WNY for some time now. In fact, I used to have them up in the Hartland/Gasport Area. That's not new news.

The news is that they took over Adelphia in WNY which includes Amherst, Cheektowaga, Lackawanna, City of Buffalo, Hamburg, East Aurora and Orchard Park. Adelphia is no more! The FCC approved by a vote of 4 to 1 the purchase of Adelphia by Time Warner and Comcast.

I am more than well aware of that, but it is not done yet. I still get my checks from Adelphia communications.

EDIT: Went to the website you posted, and looked up Buffalo as another poster has and this is what I get:

Channel Lineups

We're sorry, but currently there are not any Channel Lineups for 14094.

Try another ZIP Code

Time Warner is currently updating the site. Or is it the old employees at Adelphia in Buffalo? Whoever it is, it is big news in Western New York!

Time Warner is offered in Erie County for the Villages of Akron and Alden but it is from the Rochester based Time Warner division.

Nothing major is going to change for 6 months to a year. Sure your bill will change, the website will change, but the trucks, signs, prices, speeds, packages, offerings, and lineups won't change for a while. I've been through this three times. Once when TCI bought out Dimension cable, then when at&t bought out tci then when comcast bought out at&t. Comcast is still changing the at&t lineups to the way it wants them 2 1/2 years after the fcc approved the deal. Also Comcast is still improving the cables and launching new services all the time. Kinda wish Time Warner was buying out Comcast for Northern West Virginia and Eastern Ohio but oh well!

Oh if you are going from Adelphia to Comcast you will lose the Adelphia Information channel (Normally channel 20). Comcast doesn't believe in these channels. So sooner or later these stations will disappear. Not that it matters to most people but it matters to me.

This ends the Adelphia name as a cable provider with a long and checkered past. I wonder if Time Warner in Coudersport will now charge John Rigas for his respective cable services? Many Adelphia shareholders took a beating from Mr. Rigas as he utilized Adelphia as his own personal checking account!

I personally feel the change will be for the better for all former Adelphia subsribers.

If you had taken some time to research this, you could have answered your own question. Cable TV services in Coudersport are provided by Zito Media.

The owners of Zito Media are the Rigas Family.

No, I didn't take time in researching if Adelphia in Coundersport was Zito Media. I just assumed that Coudersport had Adelphia as a cable provider since it was once Adelphia's corporate headquarters. I am now wondering how Rigas got to keep Zito Media?

I know three people that took a beating on Adelphia stock so there is no reverence from me regarding the former owner, John Rigas. The man needs to pay his debt to society for swindling thousands of shareholders.

Well i have been thru a few take overs myself and let me tell you that once is done is done. The first thing is getting the techs the new uniforms. They usually get a plastic banner to put on top of the old name "adelphia". Billing system is more complicated. I'm sure the bill will say either Comcast or TW. Now here is where it gets a little complicated but not by the much. Adelphia uses Cable Data and i know for a fact that Comcast uses ACP.

To convert all Adelphia cust to ACP takes time and effort. You will see employees from Comcast come in and help with the training and conversion. Depending on how big the system is , the faster the conversion. Oh and this does not take six months to a year to do.

Plant is another issue and i have no clue how long it will take. Once again depends on what a particular plant has.

Any way to find out what speed tiers are going to be available to us? (in Western NY for example)

I like my Adelphia premier, will they keep that tier the same?

I think it's too soon to tell. You and the rest of us will have to wait to the sale becomes finalized. Then the conversion which will take awhile. We may not see any changes at all.
It may have to be wait and see. There is another topic posted with a link for us Adelphia customers going to TW. I would go there and sign up for updates.

"Adelphia uses Cable Data and i know for a fact that Comcast uses ACP."

Actually, both companies use both in different areas. As a matter of fact, our Carroltown office uses both. There are the ACP/CSG areas which were the old TCI/AT&T properties, and DST which were the old Eastern Telecom properties.

It seems though that most of the local offices will be switching, as the Adelphia offices to the west are mostly all DST, they will be tied o the Three Rivers region, which is all CSG.

Areas to the east which are mostly all CSG will be going to the eastern division, which is DST.

Sounds like fun, huh?

P.S. Our office will be all CSG in the end. They were working on ironing out the kinks last week.

Yeah i guess you are right. Last time i spoke to a lady on the phone she told me that they use both but here in miami i saw them use Cable Data......

Funny you keep calling it CSG. IT might say CSG but in reality is ACP. Crap now i cant remember if is ACP or ASCP lol. Anyhow CSG had a huge update that messed up the way we used CSG. Hence ACP...........I remember whe ATT wanted to get rid off CSG but couldnt because of the contract TCI had done with CSG system for 10 years.

It would be really funny/(NOT !!) to see Cable Data come back to comcast again....
