Re: Lightspeed node in Milwaukee area?

Ok now the question is have they made a franchise agreement with Shorewood to offer u-verse?

I have not heard of anything in WI yet.

Re: Lightspeed node in Milwaukee area?

I checked with the village, and their position is that the box is illegal. That's all I have right now, but this should be interesting.

Re: Lightspeed node in Milwaukee area?

Well like I've said before if they don't want it, we'll gladly take it here.

Perhaps its illegal because its too close to the road?

I have a feeling a snowplow would destroy that thing in no time in the winter..

Re: Lightspeed node in Milwaukee area?

Often the concern is that Lightspeed could deliver TV content without the town getting a rakeoff.

Re: Lightspeed node in Milwaukee area?

I know that, but from my view, it still looks like a snowplow would either destroy that, or it would give the village a real headache trying to plow around it

It seems farther from the road than a fire hydrant.

I believe the "illegality" has more to do with it being in effect cable TV equipment and not just telecommunications equipment. The village wants a franchise agreement before any more of these appear.

I agree that at the very least salt spray could be an issue, however the right-of-way on most streets here is too narrow for any other placement. For example at my house the ROW is 70' wide or 35' on either side of the street center line.

15' Street
10' Curb & grass boulevard
6' Sidewalk
4' Grass to my property line
-----
35'

So without dealing with me, moving the sidewalk or going underground they have nowhere else to go.

That or a car or two. I can see a drunk driver plow right into that thing!
