Re: [General] The new PAP2 v2.0

From that I understand, this device can be unlocked.
I would suggest you try cyt30.exe to unlock it.
You can download it for yourself and give it a try. It is to unlock the Linksys WRTP54G and RTP300 also.

Wow thats reaaallly good news.

Cant wait to get to BB to get the v2 and try the unlock process.

What new features does this one provide?

What is the downside of not supporting stun servers and outbound proxy?

I think voicestick requires outbound proxy and some SIP providers need the stun server support

Any ideas?

When you wait until the last minutes, chances are there will be no more to purchase. I hope you will get a lot. Please buy as many as you can. After all, the more you buy, the average cost will drop for you. So far, I have purchased about 30 units of PAP2, PAP2v2, and SPA2002 for about $60 (first unit) + $290 (29 additional units) = $350 (30 units) or about $11.67/each before the tax of $60/each.

What new features does this one provide?
If you look at its web menu, a PAP2 v2 seems to have much less features than its predecessor. However, don't let this dismay you. Look at this from a bright side that a PAP2v2 comes with an 8/16MB Flash/RAM. Its OS is a Linux based. This means the device has plenty of Flash/RAM to run additional Unix/Linux programs, i.e. asterisk. The 8MB Flash is split into two 4MB sections with each section for a running and a backup firmware. So far, I have managed to port/compile/run the Fobbit's Phone-book Server on my PAP2v2. This phone-book server is used to serve my VoIPBlaster (VB) devices. I am hoping some of you guys out here are competent enough to take some challenges to port an asterisk to this PAP2v2. When you have an asterisk runs on top of a PAP2v2, it will become a much more powerful ATA device than an SPA9000 that costs about $400/each.

What is the downside of not supporting stun servers and outbound proxy?
How about being a pain-in-the-butt trying to configure the device behind a NAT/Firewall router?

I think voicestick requires outbound proxy and some SIP providers need the stun server support
You better confirm this with VoiceStick. OTOH, a PAP2v2 support a Registrar Address Server option. Does anyone know what a Registrar Address Server is?

Thanks mazilo.

I do have voicestick configured in my PAP2. It does require outbound proxy but not require stunserver though.

I have been hearing about the asterisk in many forums...

currently I have a internet calls and voicestick configured in my PAP2. What additional functionality do I get in using a PAP2 V2 with astertisk.

Could share some instructions in the fobbit phone book server installation and configuration for PAP2 V2.

Thanks

I have never tried the following:

You may want to experiment with the Registrar Address Server option in place of the [i[Outbound proxy Server[/i] and see if that will work. Please report back if you do such a test.

Honestly, I don't know. However, what ever functions an asterisk will have, you should get them on your PAP2v2 and/or other ATA devices configured to your asterisk server.

Could share some instructions in the fobbit phone book server installation and configuration for PAP2 V2.
Please PM to me about this.

A WRT54GP2 router is based on another platform! This unlocker is for supported CYT devices only.

Hi I just picked up the new PAP2 V2 and tried the new tool to unlock it.

Here are my observations

I followed the steps as per the readme.txt. The application came back and said that it successfully unlocked my PAP2 v2.

I was able to get to the page where I can configure the line1, line2 and the sip settings.

Im not sure that confirms the unlocking.

Where do I get the GPP_K value to decrypt the factory default provision XML file

I can also ssh to the adapter. Looking around the directories and getting a brief tour.

Will try to configure a sip provider and post my results later.

The tool works!!!

What did you do before you tried to unlock it?

I have this when I select the voice tab. I did not let it connect to the internet before I unlocked it.

There is no such GPP_K values on a PAP2 v2, except the encryption key which can be found under the Provision (you need to replace IP address) page.

Just to let you all know before you are too happy with this CYT30 unlocker. This CYT30 unlocker can only unlock your device for you to configure your VoIP. The same thing goes to here if you accidentally factory reset your unlocked device, it will phone home to get relocked! As of today, the CYT30 unlocker should have no problem to re-unlock your device; however, as time goes by, don't count on it. Therefore, you are advised to save a copy of the encryption key (found in the Provision page) and download a copy of the XML file. I know a lot of us are being lazy a$$es, never bother to read to follow instructions here, and one day when the disaster strikes it will be too late except being a sorry a$$. This definitely will make me LOL reading your posts . So, please please please ALWAYS keep a copy of your PAP2's encryption key and don't forget to download the XML file.

EDIT: Pressing the PIN hole for more than 20 sec may let you factory reset the device, but to unlock your newly factory reset device through this CYT30 is another issue.

BTW, don't expect to use the openssl to decrypt this XML file. If you do your home right, you should be able to find this utility mentioned in some of the posts in this thread and/or somewhere in the forum to decrypt the XML file with the encryption key. So, do your home work right to read and search first before posting to ask where you can find this utility. I am sure there will be some a$$holes here just sit on their fat a$$es whining around asking where to find the utility to decrypt the XML file for a PAP2v2 before even bother read and search through the posts in this thread and/or the forum.

It depends on your goal. If you wish to simply re-configure the device to work with a different provider, you just need to load up the Voice_adminPage.html. Do this by making the http URL show that in the link.

For example, if my device is at 192.168.15.1, I would put this link in the browser:
»192.168.15.1/Voice_adminPage.html

Dlink VTA
Does anyone have a Dlink VTA? Can anyone verify if the unlock process works on this device? A long shot, but it does have the same hardware as a PAP2 v2 and runs similar software.
Thanks in advance

I was able to unlock my PAP2 v2 following the previous instructions and configured it to work with VoIPStunt successfully, but not with Gizmo. Did anyone have the right setting to share.

Here is my setting
