Re: LOL, so how to you verify this?

Stop complaining, this is the first company to make this giant leap toward coming into phase with the rest of the modern world. Although they arent quite there yet. That price will need to drop to about 30$ a month to match foreign offerings.

I'm not complaining, I'm actually glad. Just seems to be a bit of marketing hype on the 50 Mbps. Unless I'm downloading from Google or Microsoft, I don't think any website would be able to match that speed just because it's too expensive to have an upload connection that fast.

They really don't need to hype up fiber, we all know it's fast. To me it's no different than going sports car shopping and the saleman telling me their car is so fast I can get a speeding ticket in it.

Why? This product is not offered for any purpose that would need or require statics. Almost reminds you of hell, huh? It all looks awesome on the outside until you want something that would just make it sweet only to be hit with the cold hard truth.. it's a residential service and I doubt you will see statics for the service with out a $100 price tag for one.

www.dyndns.org is probably going to be your best friend today.

There are plenty of things that will take advantage of 50 Mbps all at once!

I now want 100 Mbps!

I know...

But I hate dyndns...and my joke of an isp tries to block all my server traffic...

Speakeasy would be great...if I could get DSL...

Thats wrong. so wrong.
Go check out dedicated server pricing at most places.
100mbps with 1 or 2TB/month caps. usually around or under 100$. Most servers can handle it, i get compliments all the time from FIOS users who download an ISO from my ftp stating how nice it is to use their full downstream. Most people with their own server dont cap speeds in per mbps.

Links? I'm interested because for that much, I wouldn't need my business link. I think though the devil is in the details, any place offering that kind of sweet deal won't let me bring in my own servers to setup I'm certain

Link? Of course you don't have a link because it is BS spouted by the CLECs and piss ant ISPs.

Example:
»news.com.com/2100-1034_3-999695.html
South Korea has 40 mbit for $32 a month.

100 mbit service availible for $45 a month sweden.

You can google for more.

WTF would CLEC and USA ISP's say things like that? I'm thinking you took his comment as "sabotage" against verizon. It's not against verizon, its against the USA state of broadband in general.

This is fact. There are a number of other countries FAR ahead of the USA in fast broadband at a reasonable cost, and with a far higher percentage of their country wired up.

EVEN if you restrict yourself to just major cities (to ignore all the people out in boonies), most of the cities dont have verizon FIOS or even anything similar for a decent price/availibility.

There's many reasons why we are behind other countries in internet access (even if you restrict yourself to major cities, so you dont have to count as a reason that people are more spread out in USA).

A quick google for: dedicated server 100mbit

+ 1000GB Bandwidth
+ 100Mbit Uplink
+ 8 IPs (5 Usable)
+ $109/month

»dedicated-server.hivelocity.net/···rver.asp
Similar for $100 a month

I'm sure you can locate more with google. I have not checked any or any details, and I'm not up on server or pricing or BW for any of that, I just figured a quick google would find links you asked for, and it did.

Nice story, I can find one that says something completely different and is only a year old. Parts of New Jersey and New York cover more people at a faster speed. Only 17% have signed up for FIOS in those areas. How many goat farms in Korea have broadband?

Show me where I can order this service at a specific price.

What does hosting have to do with broadband?
