Well I have no obligation to respond to anonymous jerks.

You're ignorant of the situation and your "proof" is laughable. Why would they talk about installing fiber on a report of copper theft?

This really is expected. Jerks who know less than nothing about what BellSouth is actually installing feel fre yto pointificate about how horrible a job BellSouth is doing.

This faith based hatred you have towards BellSouth is symptomatic of a deeper psychosis. Get help.

Get an account and I'll respond more politely. Anon-trolls get no respect.

Bellsouth isn't installing fiber to the premise so there is a lot of new copper being placed. Almost all last mile stuff.
Clearly not that case according to the news report and the Bellsouth representative in that news report. And of course all the footage showed them installing copper and there was no mention of fibre optics anywhere in the news report.

Once again, Bellsouth seems to be doing the job half ass and on the cheap. Instead of making a long term investment that makes sense given the status of much of their network in that area, they dropped the ball.

Originally, the city had intended to cover the entire city with wireless Internet. That effort, though, has run into legal roadblocks because state law only allows such a city system to operate in times of emergency.
With all the people crying in New Orleans, you would think the emergency is still there.

The city wasn't playing fair. They tried to involve their own taxpayer backed free network that was created by politico fiat.

And BellSouth is wrong to be upset when the gov't comes in and uses taxpayer money to cut their knees off?

And I did back up my position. Being near the city actually allows me a type of inside track as to what's going on so my info is based on more than BBR's party line. The competing position was "BellSouth is ^$@$&%&%#*!", so there isn't much to counter.

*sigh* I guess next time I'll avoid pointing out where you're wrong and tow the BBR line that BellSouth hates America.
Dude, I have pointed out a few users who were wrong and have only a few of mine deleted. I have even had one guy threaten to have me kicked off of BBR. Didn't work and a few of his posts were recently "moderated."

You can point out people are wrong as long as you back your position up. Use personal insults and you risk the wrath of the mods.

Now, I will admit, there is sort of a "party line" with many topics here but let's be frankly honest. BellSouth is not playing fair here are they? They don't want competition and are now crying foul because they can't charge for their Wi-Fi network. Put out a better product and a price people will pay and they will come. The law is bought legislation, pure and simple. And we all know how politics work in New Orleans.

When they do that, they can claim they did a great service... Considering they were on the news recently complaining about people stealing copper cable being installed, its hard to believe they are installing fibre anywhere. And if they are, they are really skimping, putting in as little as possible.

Well I hope BellSouth gets around to issuing a press release tooting their own horn for doing so.

Well it would be a hell of alot better then laying down more copper and it would show that there at-least making an attempt to bring some technology and hopefully bring more people into the city and boost the economy.

So if BellSouth replaced most of the feeder with fiber so where most of the city was within 1-1.5 miles of an RT would you consider them to be doing a great service to the city?

Gee, you made some friends kamm.

I have to agree, BS needs to put out a better product instead of crying.
Yeah, he made some friends, but he evidentally had existing friends in better positions, seeing's how the posts were deleted by the mod.
Have you seen those deleted ones? All of them were filled with adhom attacks, unlike mine.

I have been happy without BS (which is an acronym used for many other things) for 6 years. I think any service who tacks on as many bogus/unnecessary/unrelated to your service charges deserves to be dropped. I just don't get how a $15 a month service comes out to more than $35 after "taxes and fees", not to mention all the "features" they like to charge you for on phone service. Oh, and what about the bogus "USF fee" that is charged on data service like DSL? I think it's good that the City said "screw you" and took their business elsewhere...
See, you're saying the same thing I did.

I agree they should put out fibers and stop whining about it and actually do something good for New Orleans because the mayor sure wont do shit.

Exactly.
Fighting for a granted monopoly is bad but doing it after a catastrophe is really disgusting.
