[ViaTalk] RTP300 1.0.0.62-NA firmware with Viatalk

Anyone know how to get the RTP300 with 1.0.0.62 configured to work with Viatalk?

I was able to get the 3.1.10 version working since it looks like a PAP2. I can't seem to figure out how to get 1.0.0.62 working. It just stops at proceeding when registering.

Hey Mogul, I have a locked RTP300 and would be interested in how you get it to work...

Hi Ptrowski,

I am sure you already know how we all hacked into any Linksys RTP300/WRTP54G VoIP router based on this thread. If you haven't already known this, perhaps it is time to check posts in the thread to find out.

Actually, I was able to give some info on getting that started. I was wondering about the new firmware.

Perhaps, you will need to PM to rcilink requesting him to tell you how to prepare a new released firmware so that you will be able to upload it to your RTP300. AFAIC, I am happy to be able to get the GPP_K values, download the XML file, and unlock my WRTP54G units using my newly edited XML file with a known admin password.

FYI: I do not suggest the 3.1.10 firmware for the RTP300/WRTp54g devices. It has some problems with the stability of the voice section. (It has been known to not work!)

I suggest you look into these Firmware selections:

For the WRTp54G device: 1.00.62-NAr6.zip.

and

For the RTP300 device: 1.00.62-NA.zip.

These have a few things in common:

- The '-NA' firmware listed here is what is known as unlocked. That means you can configure the "Voice" section yourself without need of a special password.

- The provisioning system is not turned-off. It is simply pointed at a local IP. This means you will never have the unpleasant experience of finding your box locked, even if you decide to factory-reset the box. (If you use remote provisioning, you can change the settings in the Provision page and it does work!)

----------------[ RTP300 / WRTP54G Unlocking ]---------------

Upgrading your no-longer-used RTP300 / WRTP54g is something like this:

1. Download the correct firmware listed above.

2. Hook up your RTP300 / WRTP54g box and hook a PC to one of the LAN ports.

3. Using a web browser, browse to »192.168.15.1/update.html

4. Use username = user and password = tivonpw       * See note below.

5. Use the browse button to select the 1.00.62-NA firmware.

6. Begin the firmware update. Do not interrupt it! It could take a couple of minutes!

7. You will know it is updated when you see the "firmware update complete" screen.

8. After 30 seconds or so of the "firmware update complete" screen, try accessing the device at »192.168.15.1

9. That's It! You are now unlocked and can access the VOICE tab.

Note: If Step 4 fails...
1. Was your RTP300 / WRTP54G device used with Vonage or another provider? (The tivonpw password is a vonage password.)

2. If it was a vonage device and you are seeing "user account is disabled.", hook your RTP300 / WRTP54G to the Internet and power-cycle it. It will download the provision file, enabling the user account.

Unlocking Linksys PAP v2 FW 1.00.13

Hi,

Im trying to unlock a Linksys Pap2 V2 adapter. Based on this thread, Im getting a feeling that it can be unlocked like the RTP300.

I downloaded the ti0000000.xml from ti.tftp.vonage.net.

I could not get the provision key based on the suggestion given(disabling java script...and going to the specified url). I did get the source for the html page as suggested. but it did not have the key.

Few of you did decrypt the ti000.xml without a rc4 key. You mentioned that you used a default key. Im not sure what default key should I use. The compiled rc4.c requires a key and Im not sure what to enter in that.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply rcilink!!!.

I did try this procedure last night and it could not find the update.html. I did not pay much attention to the error message as I was not sure if that was the right procedure.

Now that you confirmed that this procedure is the right one to unlock the PAP2 V2. I will give it another shot and try it today.

Any suggestion on logging into the Pap2 through ssh. I enabled ssh and tried login to the Pap2 as admin/admin and it denied. Also same thing happened when tried to add my other PC as a listener to the log viewer application.

Thanks again for your response.

Let see if Iam lucky!!

Make sure your device is at 192.168.15.1. If you are trying these steps on a PAP2V2, you will need to match the link IP to it's IP. BTW, there is currently no released PAP2v2-NA firmware... The RTP300 and WRTP54g firmwares will not load on a PAP2v2.

The steps I posted above were intended for use on a Linksys WRTP54g or Linksys RTP300 device. Although the Linksys PAP2 v2.0 (PAP2v2 or PAP200) is based on the same configuration as the RTP300, there may be some other changes in the firmware that prevent this unlocking guide from working. In other words, I did not test this against a Linksys PAP2v2. Please test and let us know how it goes. I know you will end up needing the PAP2v2-NA firmware to complete the project... (as far as I know, that does not exist at this time).

The SSH (dropbear) daemon that is on theese devices expects the user Admin (yes, it has a capital 'A') and the appropriate password for this Admin account. If you have not yet unlocked your device, you most likely do not know your Admin password. Therefore, you will not be able to get into the box using ssh at this time.

As for the logviewer, it should be a syslog-client or something. I think Linksys has a logviewer tool for some of these devices.. I honestly have never tried the logviewer on the RTP300 / WRTP54G / PAP2v2 boxes.

Thanks for your reply. That IP requirement you mentioned, does it have to be running at 192.168.15.1. I just replaced the IP in your URL with the IP of PAP2.

Is there a hard requirement to have that particular IP address for it to work.

How is the sound quality with the RTP300 on VT vs the PAP2?

On my WRTP54G VoIP router, I just can't differentiate the audio quality differences between them. Perhaps, my hearing isn't that sensitive.

I find it to be MUCH quieter in terms of background noise. My PAP2 always has some sort of line noise in the background. At the same time, my RTP300 (no matter which firmware it runs on) always has DTMF problems with my cell phone voice mail, regardless of the VoIP provider. I'm running it with the 3.1.x firmware, not the 1.00.62-NA. I figure I don't want to mess with something that's working. Maybe when I read more about 1.00.62-NA working on the forums, then I'll switch over.

You may need to make some necessary adjustment on your PAP2's TX/RX gains to suppress the level of the noise.

It ended up that the last viatalk tech changed my Sip port number. I didn't realize it or both to check from last week.

I still had the old port # administered in the RTP300.

I've tried a few of them and never was able to get the noise to disappear, do you have any recommended settings? I'd much rather carry the PAP2 with me rather than the RTP300.

TampaVoIP,
If I download the firmware onto the RTP300, do I go in and copy the settings from my PAP2 onto the RTP300?

Unfortunately, I don't. I never have to play around with the default settings on this issue.
