Quit the team

Sorry but all this non-sensical BS has now lead me to quit all the BBDSL teams. Now on the look-out for a more common sense team.

The turbines are spinning and I'm walking the tarmac...bags in hand. In-fighting, name calling ... this is pathetic. The search is on for cruncher who still enjoy the fun of it (yea, I've been crunching for almost 7 years, I have a right to still have fun) ...

5yrs with BBR-Seti-Starfire ... it's a bit sad.

I'm close to walking the tarmac beside you ... and I'm really pissed off

Please folks, don't quit this great team, for even though we are having difficulties right now, we are still above all Team Starfire.

I'm hoping that a resolution can be found to the current difficulties soon, and I know that there are things that need to be fixed, but quitting won't change things either way.

Give it a bit of time, maybe a week, and let's see if things calm down over the next few days at least, please.

If nothing changes, then I'll gracefully hold the door for you, and bid you a fond farewell while saying sorry for asking you to stay. If things change though, we'll all just smile at each other and carry on as if this thread never happened.

I appreciate the the gracious reply. Really I do. Let's put this into perspective:

THERE IS IN-FIGHTING AMONG MEMBERS SENIOR MEMBERS!! Doesn't anyone get it around here? We are all looking and hoping for a solution to questions (life, cures and results). All we have to do is run a little 3MB file and let the computer do the rest. Thats it. No more, no less.

The fun part is really (to me) see how many results I can squeeze out of 1 machine. Easy...so danged easy. Then the competition is a bonus.

Seriously, I've been browsing seti.usa ... to see if there is fighting like I see here. nope.

Mark, I'm not a big cruncher, but someday I will be up there among the tiny percentage. Thats the fun for me. I want to come onto the forums here at BBR and read about: new opt clients, great machines being built, the OC'ing of memory, CPU's, how close we are to getting our butts kicked by whoevers in our rear-view mirror. Of course the wonderful support has always been my favorite ... as is the great (OT) stuff.

I don't want to read posts by ADULTS bitching about who said what, when and the name calling. We Senior Members have taken this way too serious...

I'll take that week but I'm not very optimistic. If I want fighting and bitching, hell, I'll go back to Iraq and deal with the insurgents again.

Man... I can't believe, after full time crunching for less than 1 month (and adding 100K in 21 days) that I'm considering leaving. BBR supported me during my 12 months in Iraq and I promised that I would do everything I could to help BBRSeti be competitive. I held up my end, but now BBRSeti is letting me down with this crap ... pure and simple crap.

I know how you feel, I really do. I know a few off my comments in the last couple of days have been less than helpful in some ways, but I am trying in my own way to let people see the futility of the bitching, even though by my very actions, I may seem to be as catty/bitchy as some others have been, or are being accused of being.

I do hope this is resolved very soon though, because I personally think that unless it is, the reputations of all the teams here at BBR are going to be tarnished.

The thing that saddens me most is that it has got to the point that nobody is going to benefit from recent events, other than the teams we compete against.

Regardless of our projects, regardless of how we feel about scores etc, we all joined teams for a reason, and to know that other teams are going to read the recent posts and be able to rub their hands in glee at the number of new members that may come their way because none of BBR's teams can get their in house shit together saddens me.

So where is the perspective? As a 5 1/2 year member of this forum I can agree with you on one thing: the dissension between the members, and it is NOT the Senior members but the newer members who have added to the discordant vibes here at this forum,[MOD EDIT] removed text

So you're not crunching for Starfire anymore? I wasn't aware of that.

Jammy isn't "recruiting" anyone!! She is desperately trying to sway SETI away from YOUR ilk!
With THIS post, I'm prolly outohere!! SO-BE-IT!
PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!

You two, are JUST too hateful and somehow believe you have some inherent right to "DO AS YOU PLEASE", disregarding your constituents, that you claim to represent.

Well...You don't, apparently!!
(I suspect, you both have a more sinister motive.)

OK - I haven't quit the team. But I changed my cache down to one day from 5. When I run out, I stop crunching unless this has been resolved.

We (the members of this team) have been put in an impossible position. We're told we don't need representation on the DCS and then we're told we can't know why because it's a closed forum. I don't like the way team leaders are handling this and I don't like the way site management is handling this.

Notwithstanding the issues the past days Team starfire still has representation in the DCS and will continue to have in the future.

Do yourself a favor and please buy a clue.

Edit: Typical of how things work, from a former member of the DCS for Team Helix. Jammy posts a message that gets MODERATED, for recruiting members to go to Seti.usa, I ask her nicelsy to stop doing that on our board, and the wild accusations and personal attacks start based on not fully reading the thread. Fine, attack me personally all you want, but this just illustrates one of the rasons I won't have anything do to with Helix or any team with their name on it.

It seems to me some harsh words have been spoken by all sides including me.

At the same time, Justin, as the final arbiter in this situation has spoken and has laid down some guidelines. It is obvious that some reflection and soul searching needs to be done by all involved.

Is it too much to ask all parties involved to take a break from the accusations and name calling for a short time? Can we please give everyone a chance to ponder what is to be done?

I can't imagine what else can be said that hasn't been said before 20 times over. I myself would like to take some time off from engaging the mouth till I've been able to absorb where we are. Thanks for your time.

Not only have I never seen you over at the Team Helix forum, I am currently a member of Team Helix, and as regards your accusation of me trying to recruit members to SETI.USA and that the post was moderated, all I can say if BS, and get a life and add a couple more years as a member hear under your belt.

And what the heck is a DCS? And a former member at that?

Also get a dictionary or use the spell check here!

Just because you have more years here than someone else doesn't make you a better member than someone else. Also, even though you *were* a member of this team and have left for other pastures, it does not give you the right to come back here and start a flame war either, no matter how many years you've been here or a member of the site. Although you will always be a member of Team Starfire, it does not give you the right to come back here and do what you are doing.

Please, do not try and recruit Starfire members in our forum. We don't come to yours and try to recruit there. Also, please, stop the flame war. The problem has gone on long enough. You are just making it worse.
