| [Speed Problem] Need some help with new SoCal speed problem
I need some help with a speed problem that seems to have cropped up within the last few weeks or months. I don't normally pay much attention to download speeds; the only time I even notice them is during big Usenet downloads. Lately I've noticed that my Usenet speeds are about half of what they used to be, so I finally ran a speed test and it shows about half the speeds I used to get with my 3Mbps/500kbps service:
dslreports.com speed test result on 2006-07-24 12:03:16 EST: 1277 / 291 Your download speed : 1277 kbps or 159.7 KB/sec. That is 39.8% worse than an average user on sbcglobal.net
Your upload speed : 291 kbps or 36.4 KB/sec. That is 28.5% worse than an average user on sbcglobal.net
It almost seems that I'm on a 1.5Mbps/384kbps profile now and it seems to be consistent, day or night. What's the best way to take care of this? I don't want to spend endless hours on the phone with tech support. I have the proper filters in place and I know what I'm doing and I don't feel like being jerked around by get-them-off-the-phone-as-quickly-as-possible-by-telling-them-there's-nothing-wrong-on-our-end techs.
I think I've seen posts in the past that referenced company techs that prowl this board and could expedite things. Is there any way I could take advantage of them and have them take a look at my account?
Thanks. |

| reply to Hixter The place you're looking for is the AT&T Direct forum.

Note that AT&T Direct is a private forum so only you and the AT&T techs can see your thread. Also, the techs are usually pretty swamped with requests so be patient, they'll get to you as soon as they can. Since you have a working circuit they may bypass you to work on ones that are having more significant problems.
And don't reply to your AT&T Direct post until one of the techs has replied first. They look for unanswered threads so if they see any replies they may bypass yours, thinking someone else is helping you. |
