How many more signatures do we need before this is a done deal?

Is someone looking at these requests for a ViaTalk specific forum? It can't be that hard to setup. I want it too.

All new forum requests need an act of congress to pass.

There's no reason not to create one with the number of Viatalk posts in the general area. Heck, at times there are more Viatalk than anything else.

I guess we have to post again and again in another thread, but PLEASE..... relieve the clutter in the general VoIP tech forum from the VT problem/question/troubleshootine threads. They are DOMINATING that group, and are becoming tedious to the rest of us. PLUS, it would be more HELPFUL to the VT people if they had ONE specific spot to go on the site for answers.

I was just made aware of this thread. Here are my thoughts.

Over in the VoIP forum we are a self-sustaining friendly folk. We don't need much moderating and we don't ask too much of the mods who obviously manage multiple forums. One thing we do need is to separate VoIP providers that clutter up the "Tech" forum.

ViaTalk has been dominating the forum, go take a look. It's ridiculous.

I may not post 1,000 times a day but I check the site about that much and I know what I'm talking about.

Edit: Forgot the word "sign" and added it just in case my statements weren't clear enough.

This thread is becoming a joke. We keep asking for this dedicated forum and everyone just gets pointed here as if this thread is somehow magically going to address the situation.

Create the forum already please.

There seems to be enough interest in this topic as well as heavy traffic in »VOIP Tech Chat to warrant the addition.

Before Vonage and SunRocket were given their own forums, a lot of people expressed doubts about whether splitting the forum was a good idea. Then the posts relating to those providers began to overwhelm the forum.

It's interesting to see the change in attitudes now that everyone can see a general VOIP forum in action. Protests are few and far between. To the contrary, we are now on the third page of posts requesting that ViaTalk be removed from the general forum.

My perspective: giving major providers their own forum has clearly improved the general forum. It's time to remove the last major jamming signal: ViaTalk posts.

No disrespect toward ViaTalk or its subscribers is intended. It's just that ViaTalk family matters are best kept within the family.

I agree. A new forum for Viatalk is needed.

Uncluttering the general VOIP Forum by giving VT its own Forum will make it much easier for those of us who like to check on the lesser known/used VOIP provider issues: VoiceStick, GizmoProject, StanaPhone, FreeDigits/TalkDigits, VOIPStunt, Skype, FWD, etc., etc. Rather than needing to wade through scores of VT Titles, we could easily spot interesting posts about these minor players.

It's a simple split, and if you want to see what's happening on the other side of the fence then it is one click away.

I agree with Super Canary that the other providers most likely are getting neglected due to the many posts for Viatalk.

Agreed. Although I love to talk about VT, I can see where posters seeking other information easily get lost in the shuffle.

It's time.

it doesnt matter if we have every single member on dslr signing. It is ultimately up to the powers that be to get off their arses and actually do something that the community asks for.

They already did, the forum exists now, the link has been posted twice today...

Hoping the third time's a charm, here it is again: »ViaTalk

it just seems that 98% of the topics that are brought up and have more signs than objects ultimately die because nothing is done about it

It seems like, in your haste to post earlier, you missed the fact that the forum was already created.

The majority of the requests here don't get implemented. Check out the forum history over time, that's no mystery. But some of them do --- some quickly and some later. And it's a good place for people to keep requesting them. But a certain number of "sign"s doesn't guarantee something will be implemented.
