Re: Wireless PCI card interfering with Digital TV card/signal?

Something is seriously wrong, probably with the DWL-G520 card. It should not be leaking like that.

Steps to try:

1. Remove the DWL-G520 PCI card and inspect it for cracks or broken solder points. Shake it and it should not sound like anything is loose inside the metal encasement.

2. Swap the positions of the two cards -- perhaps the AverMedia card is on the less shielded side of the G520 card.

3. Ensure the antenna for the G520 is attached tightly and is not in contact with any cables or the chassis of the computer.

4. Ensure that the TV cable connector is properly installed, so that the coaxial shielding is making a good electrical contact with the outer part of the connector but is insulated from the inner lead.

5. Properly close the computer's case (do not run it with the back panel removed).

If the situation persists, replace the DWL-G520 card or the TV connector cable as these are the two likely suspects.

This is not a well known problem for the DWL-G520, but the situation could easily be explained by a random manufacturing defect that causes a poor shielding connection.
