| [POLL] Download Managers- 2006 Members Choice
Wikipedia defines a download manager as: a computer program designed to download files from the Internet, unlike a web browser, which is mainly intended to browse webpages on the World Wide Web (with file downloading being of secondary importance).
If I dont have your favorite program listed, please select other and explain why you use the program with a link if at all possible.

@verizon.net | I use the browsers built in download manager. Almost all of my downloads are finished in seconds so why hassle with extra software. |

 StarDownloader (Free) |
I personally use StarDownloader. A popular misconception is that if you have broadband, you don't need these but the fact is that if the server you're downloading from supports multiple simultaneous connections, you can often double or even triple your download speeds, no matter how fast your connection is. Of course, this is assuming you're not getting maximum throughput with a single connection, which is rarely the case. In addition, almost all download managers support resume which is a godsend if you happen to lose your connection for whatever reason. -- "Yeah, next time maybe do a little research." - Geico Caveman |
