SBC 2wire modem with Earthlink DSL

Alright, I have been searching google endlessly looking for an answer, that I have not found. SO I have decided to ask on this forum:

I previously used SBC DSL with A 2wire modem and recently have switched providers to Earthlink. I purchased the one computer modem knowing I could probably use my 2wire modem to connect both of our computers....

Now, the question is: If it is possible to use my 2wire modem with EL? I have tried and have recieved a solid organge light in the Broadband.

I would greatly appreciate any help!

The first thing that must be asked is your DSL service now active from EL? It has be past your install/completion date. Otherwise the Orange LED sounds like have no broadband DSL sync.

Activation Keys

To set up your 2Wire intelligent gateway, you will be asked to provide a key code. The proper key code should have been provided to you either on a sticker on the shipping container, or in the documentation from your broadband service provider.

If a key code was not provided, please follow the instructions below to obtain one.
Determine your broadband service provider.
In the section for your service provider in the table below, select the description that best describes your Internet service and use the corresponding key code to the right.

Re-reading my post..they are very confusing. The 2wire modem I have was sent to me from SBC along with an SBC DSL instalation CD and an SBC logo on the modem. Now I am not sure if the Broadband light is orange on account of it is trying to connect through SBC? I am not to smart when it comes to networking.

Use the Earthlink Code and try to connect. You will need to see what the LEDs mean as I have no idea about 2Wire. The SBC code will most likely not work with EL I don't think.

I have no idea. Sorry. Did you read the FAQs and the code pages?
