Welcome Kosh

paul See Profile has been replaced as one of your forum mods by KoshVorlon See Profile, a longtime SETI cruncher for the site. I won't go into the reasons, some are publicly viewable and some were discussed privately between Paul and myself and cannot in good conscience be resolved. Thank you for your help as a mod, Paul, you're a good man.

Thank you, Kosh, for stepping up at an unsettled time to represent your team atop the forum and in the DCS. Thank you, Edward, for enduring.

This will now give this team 2 representatives in DCS. It will remain for the team to elect a rep, and for the mods to choose a rep.

Hello all! Some of you may know me some of you may not. I figured I would give a little background info to get everyone on the same page.

I grew up and currently live in the Dayton Ohio area. I have worked for an Information Technology company based in this area for just over 10 years. I have been married for eight years and have three children, a girl that is 6.5, a boy that is 4.25, and a five week old girl. Two weeks before my daughter was born my dad was taken to ER. They found a tumor in the left side of his head. He has since been diagnosed with Lymphoma. He had his first Chemotherapy treatment Thursday evening. So, between work, a new baby, and supporting my dad you will see that I keep some crazy hours.

I found my way to DSLR just over seven years ago. DSL lines were new to my area and I was trying to make sure I was up on the news so that I could get my line installed a quickly as possible. Back then AT&T / SBC / Ameritech actually would release spreadsheets of the different streets and if they were live or when they planned on bringing them live. While here I also stumbled on a fledgling SETI club that had a non public release of the client. I think it was 2.07? A few of us at work had been running SETI since the day it became available for Windows. I had just gotten my new 1 Ghz machine and decided to join up. I still like to look back at those threads from time to time:
»The Vorlon Empire has joined the cause
»Argh I got crushed by Kosh
»Stats 10/8 to 10/14

Back then I hit the site a lot, justin See Profile had taken one of the servers that was relatively idle and set up two UT servers. He wrote some custom scripts for the servers and they became very popular. Counter-Strike was beginning to pick up speed and several members lead by shinjuru See Profile convinced justin See Profile to convert one of the UT severs over to CS. CS being new, having many updates and addons, with a DSLR supported gaming clan, not to mention a popular site that was gaining momentum every day started digging into justin See Profile idle time. After some discussions justin See Profile moved everything to a dedicated server and turned over administration of the game servers to me. Over the years we have added new servers and expanded our gaming clubs. At different times over the years we have had top CS, UT, and BF1942 servers and/or gaming clans.

I was also around when Zhen-Xjell See Profile and some others found another project, much like SETI. They tried it out and it took off which lead to the founding of our sister club Team Helix. I have seen members of this site try many different projects and devote their idle time to try and figure out many questions that linger over our daily lives. Each person gets involved for different reasons, but hopefully the work being done will be able to make a difference in some way at some time even if only to spread the awarness or give the personal satisfaction that you tried.

At work I have played many different roles, all around technical aspects of my companies customer facing systems/servers. I'm currently the SME ( Subject Matter Expert ) / Senior System Administrator for a customer facing hosted environment that has been gaining a lot of momentum lately. I prepare the environment for Major software updates, develop and maintain customizations that help us to automate things in the environment, and have meetings ( lots and lots of meetings ) about different things people want to do and how best to handle the request if access is granted.

So, that is a bit about me. I am aware of the things that have been going on recently. As with any situation I'm here to try and work through it and to try and make the best of the situation. All I ask is that you try to keep a level head and try and post information or ideas that you think will help contribute to a solution. I have seen a common tendency in forums and it is their greatest downfall. You can't get the feeling of the person writing the text. So, if you are mad, or hate the other person. They are writing to you in a mean tone. That is why we set up a couple of voice com servers. It really does help at times to get people to log in and just talk, like you are on a conference call. They hear the correct tone and it does help solve problems. The servers are up and running at BBG ( BroadbandGaming ) feel free to utilize them:

Welcome Kosh and good luck in your new position.

As to Paul... What can I say. You are probably the most easy going and fair minded person I've known at BBR. I'm going to miss you as a moderator and even more I will miss you as our rep.

I know, I know, when site management want our opinion they'll give it to us.

How silly of me to think a discussion forums is the right place to discuss things.

Best to you, your wife and the new Baby. Congratulations to your family and yourself.

Kosh great to see one of My old time Seti and MOD buddy back here and in the fray again.
Fatness choose a Good and Fair minded member both of the Team and the Site to represent us.

As always your consistency and presence of mind will add to the stability and growth of the BBRTeamStarFire.
You were here from the begging like myself and some others. You have seen and been a part of the growth and growing pains of the Team and the Site. Both of which have become very large and still a very good place to belong to. That is because of Justin and all of us original Members and Moderators who placed civility and open mindedness above all else, established a quality and care seen on very few sites at the time and still to the present.
This was due to you and us who spent a lot of personal time and effort to have this BRR/DSLReports flourish for everyone.

Paul I am sorry to see you go we may have had some philosophical differences but you always had my respect and High regard for you as a person and a friend to myself and the team. Just don't wander off please keep your presence in the forum and team activities up you were and are asset to the group.

Hank

I would have to concur with Mortis here

Never in the BBrCS forum was there a picture of the Vorlon...

Though one was rumored.

Anyway, good to see you again Kosh!!!
