[BOINC] The End of an Era....

You all know me. I've been here almost as long as anyone, have proven my dedication to the team and it's leaders by my actions and deeds, validated by being appointed mod here for the last 6 months.

It's with a heavy heart that I bring to the team the news of my withdrawal from Team Starfire. Recent events, ending with my replacement as mod here have led to this, as I cannot in good conscience remain here.

I'd like to take justin See Profile 's offer here »Re: The Biggest Problem With My Job , where I quote-
In my view, and bear in mind I'm late into this decision so I might be missing something - The RIGHT thing is for you and anyone else who feels strongly about DCS to resign and start your own team, on your own site, and invite any members who wish to join it. I'd even let you have a free window of publicity for that choice.
With that, I'd like to welcome anyone who wishes to join me in our new team, to do so by going here- »setiathome.berkeley.edu/team_dis···d=127048 Our main page are located here »www.tswb.org/

I'd like to take this oportunity to thanks everyone here for their support, encouragement and friendship you've given me through the years. I've asked nothing in return, was happy to help out everyone.

Lastly, I sincerely hope we can keep this thread clean, and trolling non-existant. This is just a goodbye, an open offer to anyone who wishes to join us in creating a unified BOINC team to do so. See you at »www.tswb.org/....

Nothing more appropriate at this time other than-
So long.... and thanks for all the fish!

Well, I'd like to say I'm shocked at the move, but I can't, so won't try to fake it.

A sad day.

Link clicked, cya on the other side. (As soon as the first credits are granted.)

How silly of me to think a discussion forums is the right place to discuss things.

You certainly have proven your dedication, Paul. Thank you for that and thanks for being a friend.

I too find myself at a crossroads, torn by my connection to this team and a vision of what Distributed Computing should be. Over the years I've met a lot of good people here. We've shared some really fun and some really sad moments. None of those moments as sad as this one is for me.

It is time for me to move on also. Crunching should not be this painful. Thanks again to all the fine people on this team and on the other teams here. Till we meet again.

I'm just now tring to understand whats going on. And after a few reads I'm starting to see. I quit crunching about 2 years ago after I reached 20,000 and never thought about doing Boinic. I still read a few threads at Starfire and more now with all the disputes. Sorry to see some of my old buddies depart. But with time everything changes and I like to hold on to the old times, hell I only listen to 60s,70s,80s music and will never change. I hope all that departs will keep in touch even if they aren't crunching. Paul like others have been a great asset to our team here and it's sad it had to come to this.

While we've had our differences in the past, I DO wish you the best of luck and hope that this decision turns out to be the best one for you, because at the end of the day, it's not about what's best for anyone or anything but you.

Good luck.

Sorry to see you say you are leaving to form another team. But you must do what you must and I respect that choice and decision.

You will be missed on the team roster and your presence in the forum and it's participation will leave a void. But not in it's memory of you and all who chose to leave.

Best to you please come visit and post when you can or want to.

I'm sorry to see the way all of this has come about. For me losing Paul as a mod is the last straw. I've enjoyed my stay here and will miss the comradery we once had here. Definitely a sad day! Goodbye all...

Well, I guess it's official now. The lines have been drawn and the split has become a reality. I have been mostly quiet lately praying it wouldn't come to this point. We have been through troubles in the past but we have been able to work them through and have come out stronger than before.

I see now that that time has past. I have said before that I joined this team as a way to give back to BBR for all the help I got here over the years. Many of you who are leaving I consider friends and I hope it will remain that way but in all good conscience I cannot join you.

I have logged out of Team Starfire.net for the last time. I honestly do wish all of you the best of luck and hope to be fighting you for standings soon. You have some of the best chrunchers and I am sure you will rise quickly through the ranks.

Now I believe I shall get drunk.

Paul,

You know how I feel. I think what was done to you and the way it was done is positively shameful. I find I can no longer support BBR. I too am moving on.

I'd like to say goodbye to all my teammates here, and I'm truely sorry that I have to leave this team.

Farewell, friends.

Paul,

sorry to see you go and the rest of those who follow, but now that you guys have your new team and new forum, what about the rest of us?

Are we just kicked to the curb?

Thanks. Nothing at all will change here for the average user. We're leaving, not taking the team name, the team, or anything remotely similar. Life should go on as usual here at DSLR.

I'd like to remind everyone in this thread, we're basically saying goodbye here, let's not get off topic, please.

You know I have a lot of things to say about recent events, and I actually was going to compose a nice post and see how long it lasted, but them i remebered what I tell everyone else
If your leaving say Goodbye and don't let the door hit you in the a** on the way out.

With that thought I say Goodbye

Do not worry it won't

My, I didn't think I would ever be saying this. I have met many people here at BBR on all sides. And have had alot of fun doing it. You are friends and always will be. But as I said in an earlier post, I continue to stand by Paul, Ron and Gary. I wish everyone one here at Starfire , Helix, Discovery and RC5 the best. Paul I will see you on the other side my friend.

I voted Yes to keep Starfire at BBR. It's sad to say goodbye to BroadbandReports.com Team Starfire, but my team IS with our founder and I've remained loyal since day 1. Today, I remain with the Team and will see everyone on the other side.

Best wishes,
bb.

As a former team member here I can truly say it sucks to see the split happening. I hope it all works out best in the long run, for those leaving and those staying.

Re: [BOINC] The End of an Era....

I find it time for me to make a change as well. I share the vision of one World BOINC team and that will happen now at »www.tswb.org.

This is indeed a sad day for everyone involved.

I wish everyone who remains here all the best. Take care.
