Why do people need a home and cell? That's like asking why do peeps need a desktop and laptop computer.

It's not about need, it's about want.
How many teenagers out there have cell phones because they truly need them...
Not quite. I don't really WANT a landline, but because I have a child, it's not safe to not have one. I could deal without a Cell Phone if I lived in the city as well.. but since there's a possibility I could be broken down in the middle of nowhere, again it's a safety issue.

I don't own a laptop, mostly because I can't build them myself.

Most family's don't live alone by definition. Therefore you need both. If you're not home most of the time, then these businesses are not marketing their services to you. Most homeowners are also family's, because if you're single it's an awful lot of expense to own a home that is usually empty.

Therefore MANY others DO need both. Of course the world should probably just be tailored toward you, your friends, and apparently single family.

With The Introduction Of VoIP, I Believe It's Just A Matter Of Time Before Companies Are Offering Free CellPhones, Which Are Tied To The VoIP Number ... Likely Marketed As A Convenience Or Value Factor For "Mothers On The Go" ... A Slogan/Sales Pitch Like That With This Offer May Further VoIP.

As Far As Quadruple Play Goes, It'll Be Interesting To See What Spin Companies Could Use To Successfully Incorporate This.

Myself, I Still Use Copper Since VoIP Doesn't Seem To Have Matured Yet (Quality Sound w/Reliable Connection). I'll Wait It Out And See What Future Packages Hold. With Rumors (whether true or not) Of Services Like VoIP (or any telephone type service as we use to know it) Becoming Free In The Future, I'm In No Rush To Invest In Technology Today That May Be Free Tomorrow (not literally tomorrow but sometime in the future).

1) I never said you could. Thats why its good to have a nice cell phone!

2) If you live alone (as do I) why would someone be calling you from your house? Unless of couse they have a cell phone!

3) I don't need both. And im sure many others (like my friends and family) don't either.

How am I supposed to call someone with my VOIP from my car when it is broken down on the side of the road?

How should someone call 911 from my house if I'm not home and I have my cell phone with me?

Both are needed, until you can have multiple phone's hooked up to the same cell service line.

So, according to what you said people are not smart enough to know that a telephone call via their cable provider or DSL provider is not the same?

Your assuming people are stupid?

Ok I guess I didn't make my point clear. The point of my post was that I myself don't think too many folks are gonna fall for getting a cell phone from a cable company when they already have VOIP or vice versa. I don't care about who they get it from I'm just saying that I belive more and more people are seeing two telephones as a luxury and not a necessity.
And yet the vast majority of people with a cell phone also have a landline, which makes your point invalid. Most people also don't know the difference between their Comcast phone service, or their old SBC phone service, so if you're going to make a point on the fact that it's VoIP, that's invalid as well.
