| Looking to Split Server
I've wanted a server for some time, but I can't pay for it alone, nor do I need the entire thing for myself. I'm looking for 5 other people to share the server with. You will get about 50GB of space for $60 with unlimited bandwidth. You will be given a Cpanel/ WHM reseller account. You will also be given root access to the server if needed. I'm looking between a P4 3Ghz, 1GB HD, and 300GB HD or Dual Xeon 2.4Ghz, 2GB HD, and 300GB RAID-1 at ServerWizards. I've had some files on a friend's server over there for a while and I have gotten great speed and uptime. If you're interested, please contact me at pipdipchip@aol.com. -- Webmaster of WRT54G.net - Official Microsoft MVP Longhorn Beta Tester |

Clearly you can multiply 5 x $60. More importantly, what does the amount paid per month have to do with how comfortable you would be? I see no relation. -- Webmaster of WRT54G.net - Official Microsoft MVP Longhorn Beta Tester |

On the serverwizards site it says 20mbps unmetered. ~ 6300gb per month if your pushing 20mbps 24/7, so hardly unlimited. Also no network and datacenter listing on their page drives me away. Giving root access to 5 other people is a no no, maybe just shell but not root.
Goodluck on your search for mates, try the WHT see if anybody bites. |

I obviously wouldn't give root access to someone until they proved they knew what they were doing. I also wondered about the network and datacenter, but I've had files on another server from them for several months with no problems. So that's good enough for me. The offer is still open. I don't why you think this will only "go terribly wrong". People have shared servers before. -- Webmaster of WRT54G.net - Official Microsoft MVP Longhorn Beta Tester |

1 edit | Sharing a server with someone you know is different than posting in a forum and just asking random people to email your AOL address. This, at least to me, is comparable to standing out on the street and asking random guys if they'd like to go 50/50 on a car with you. You could split the cost of everything and save tons of money!
Recipe for disaster...
Edit: Your signature says that you're a Microsoft MVP. I was just curious what field that was for... the site doesn't show you for some strange reason: »mvp.support.microsoft.com/commun···=carlson -- irc.removed.us - #dslr | DSLR Phishtracker | Morning Glory Comics | Email: removed@dslr.net | Phone: 718-606-4100 |

| reply to pipdipchip pipdipchip come on now why take offense? You have been around long enough to know how this rag tag crew here at BBR/DSLR is.
It is cool you have confidence in this place but to put it in more layman's terms just use caution and be careful.
