Sorry, but we do need this alternative. We have two terrible choices for broadband here: Charter and Verizon. Both are among the slowest and most expensive providers in their respective technologies.
I welcome this and would be more than thrilled to dump Charter. I can certainly think of lots of other things to do with the $60 a month I now spend. |

Furthermore, FIOS will eventually be in most afluent places in LB. -- Just where are we going? And what's with the handbasket? |

2 edits | reply to HappyBunny Try using the existing "hotzone" in downtown LB and you'll see what I'm talking about . Spotty coverage, slow speeds and packet loss. While these wifi networks can be used for checking email and other non-demanding tasks, they really aren't something you can use for everyday activities like downloading files and playing online games.
Last I checked, there are some wireless ISP options available in the LB area. If you're truly interested, you might want to check into them. -- Check out our public servers |

I could be wrong, but I do not believe those type of people are who they are targeting. I would expect they are targeting the web surfer and email checker and would suggest the others opt for the other services. |

And I dont have a land line anymore (do they do naked DSL?) If and when FIOS becomes available in my area, I will reconsider them but right now, its no better than what I have. |
