Re: nice

After reading this thread I am not sure where you are getting your math at. The USB 1.1 supported max transfer (aka Full Speed USB) is 12Mbps.

The max transfer speed sprint thinks users will hit is only 3.1 Mbps...just over a quarter of the available bandwidth provided by a Full Speed USB device. There should be NO problem at all for USB 1.1 compliant devices to be able to handle EVDO-A implementations.

However, I think it will probably come as a USB 2.0 device just because that future-proofs it a little better.

You don't seem to understand what I am saying.

If you are in a location that you can get higher than 1.2mbps you obviously would never benefit from those speeds because of the bottleneck transfer through usb.

i don't think your USB mouse and keyboard are going to cause any bottlenecks. Your flash memory reader wont either.

Obviously but at the same time you won't want to have any bottle necks either.

clever hiding of numbers. if you only see a tenth of the bandwidth you'd still see 1.2mbps which is a LOT more than you'll be averaging with this card. People think they are going to see 3.1mbps but lets not kid ourselves. You'd have to be the only one on that tower in perfect conditions.

While this device is sorely needed and long past due it still is not Rev A compatible so if you are lucky enough to get the upgrade in the next few months new equipment will be needed.

Well I been reading comments that USB 2.0 has 480mbps max transfer but in real world results you only see 48mbps max. So I would assume the same would apply to usb 1.0.

That's why I thought it should obviously sport a usb 2.0 port.

no it wouldn't. USB 1.0 is 12Mbps max and the max throughput you are going to see is only 3.1mbps, but you'll get more like 700kbps so 1.0 could handle it just fine. However, 2.0 interfaces are so plentiful now they would probably only do 2.0

This card would obviously have to sport a usb 2.0 port. Looking at the bars in the picture of the article he only had one bar and still got pretty fair speeds. I would like to see how much it is with full bars. If the USB does not become a bottleneck for the bandwidth coming in.

As for deployment of REV A. I believe it's by the end of the year since they have accelerated it.
