oh do pray tell, what does the redneck bastard offspring SexTel have up its sleeve? WiMAX? give me a break. The upgrade path is everyone is going to WCDMA because Qualcomm says so. CDMA2000 is dead and so is GSM. Qualcomm bought Flarion and you will see the FlashOFDM technology used in WCDMA2billion or whatever the f-.

Although I don't know exactly the technology being used. Wimax can deliver speeds up to 70Mbps unlike FlashOFDM delivers 3mbps.

Although I did read that FlashOFDM can reach speeds of 54mbps it still does not reach the speed WiMax does and as both technologies continue to improve in the future maybe then we would compare.

The only advantage I see with HSDPA is that it's a software install and can run on current tower equipment.

By the way what's up with the redneck bastard comment it sounds like you have a grudge against them.

Sure, on paper only. Just like how 802.11B has rates up to 11Mbps, but only delivers as much as 5.5

Actually 802.11B I was only able to get at max 300KB/sec while transferring between wireless to LAN. So I think it's much less than that. Unlike 802.11G which says 54Mbps but you only see 3.0MB/sec.

So if anything the max I would at least expect from WiMax is around 6-10MB/sec. With FlashOFDM lower I would assume at around 3-7MB/sec. But those are guesstimates obviously.
