[Cable] Dallas/Ft Worth Metro Vol I -- Time Warner

The running DWF comcast thread was a great one. Hopefully we can continue it here.

Of all the many gripes I have with TW over Comcast (no espn2hd, no nfltv, limited ondemand, etc), the worst is the overnight quality change of hbohd and shotimehd....the "flicker" is the worst...and Ive verified it with a couple friends across the metroplex. I dont know what causes it but in dark scenes it is annoyingly evident.

I can confirm this on HBO HD.. It was very noticeable during War of the Worlds the other night...

Sattelite is looking better and better...

The dreaded ad in the guide is gone, thank goodness. Scathing emails seem to have some effect.

Also --

I received a Time Warner Cable catalog in the mail today. Two things are disturbing, from an HDTV perspective -

1. HDNet and HDNet Movies are not listed on the page where they talk about HD.

2. UniversalHD is listed though, and it is not even in the channel lineup. What gives?

I know this doesn't directly affect the Dallas market but it is still interesting:

doesnt make much sense..why not keep each metro area instead of the high cost of switching within texas.

"doesnt make much sense..why not keep each metro area instead of the high cost of switching within texas."

Probably to make the government happy... and to regionalize there systems... (I know that doesn't quiet make sense with the Houston swap but...)

No, we didn't have espn2 HD here in Frisco. As of today we have less service for the same amount of money... Hmm, not a very good first impression TW.

no, we didnt have espn2hd solely because the market was slated for TW takeover, all other comcast markets had/have espn2hd.

I'm headin' for the hills. Ordered Verizon FIOS TV today after it took 92 minutes to report a service outage last night... and 37 more minutes for the guy to check for and alert me to an outage in my area.

Someone mentioned in the old post that he is having problem with ESPN HD channel where you can't pause, rewind and such. I tested it out and confirmed it's not working.

I live in Plano and I am not seeing this problem. I am able to perform all DVR functions on ESPN HD as was the case with Comcast before the transition.

Everyone --

Please go to the "contact us" page on time warner's site and email them that the ad is unacceptable.

A scathing email might be the only way these tools get rid of the ad.

Plano 75024 here

I still have the ad, too. Also, it seems that the quality of the analog channels got a lot worse. They always used to look ugly on my HD TV, but now they're almost unwatchable even on my standard TVs, too. What's going on?
