so its just the uplink to cable companies? that blows. i know you mentioned it was espn issue so i started comparing to satellite and so wasnt buying the espn problem. if it can be (and is) traced back to separate uplink to just cable companies i guess i can hold out hope that it will be fixed at some point.
i watch espn probably more than anything so obviously this is a big deal to me. it is really terrible at 50"+ and i can trace it back to almost the day it changed because i have dvr'd stuff before it went bad a couple months ago. |

I think it has to do with ESPNs satellite uplink for the cable co's.
it has been reported on comcast houston, cox orange county, twc nyc. |

@rr.com | reply to dennis1x36 I can't believe they are paying 4 bucks per subscriber and then limiting the bit rate for espn resulting in a joke of an HD quality for espn/2/U even compared to dtv. I have to go to a sportsbar now for things I really care about on espn. |

An interesting article about TWC asking for end users' "help" against cable rate increases. |

My biggest gripe is that you record a program and you can't select the "Find more episodes" option. I have to keep doing manual searches over and over again.
My ReplayTV had this ability in 1998.
EDIT: from »www.multichannel.com/article/339···_Web.php
With the new i-Guide A28, Comcast is offering myDVR Manager, which lets subscribers schedule recordings on one or more DVRs from the Web at www.comcast.net/mydvr.
Comcast and other cable operators have trailed DirecTV, Verizon, AT&T, TiVo and others in providing the ability to remotely manage DVRs, and it's a feature competitors have touted as part of recent marketing campaigns.
Other new features in the i-Guide A28 include "skip ahead/skip back" to fast-forward or rewind DVR recordings in five-minute increments; a new on-screen keyboard designed to make typing in searches faster; DVR folders that automatically group shows together; the ability to search and set recordings by actor, director or keyword, similar to TiVo's WishList; and bulk deletion of recordings.
Interactive TV features being launched with the IPG are shop-by-remote to make HSN purchases; "request for information" triggers for advertisers; and the ability to set program reminders or recordings directly from certain TV show and movie promos.
The A28 guide also shows viewers who tune to a standard-definition channel an on-screen prompt that lets them switch to an HD version if it's available.
"The enhancements bring customers more choice and convenience by allowing customers to easily skip forward or back during their favorite programs, watch their favorite programs in HD without having to scroll to a higher channel to see if it is available and search for programs by title, director, keyword and more," Comcast said.
Comcast is launching the A28 i-Guide market-by-market, with Chattanooga, Tenn., one of the first systems to receive the upgrade. The MSO expects to continue to roll out the enhanced IPG throughout 2009 and into early 2010. |

| reply to Joe Siegler the changes are not related. Twc just waited a while to add them. They were planning to make the changes. They had to make agreements with those 5 channels to move them to digital.
They are most likely adding the HD channels to coincide with the 2010 winter olympics.
TWC austin is adding MSNBC HD at the same time that dallas is adding the 7 NBC universal channels in dallas. |

| reply to motorola870 Just noticed something about the 4 HD adds (SyFy, CNBC, Bravo, USA)... They're NBC Universal properties. All of 'em. I wonder if this (their add here) has anything to do with the possible sale of NBC. Some of these have been available on other TWC's for a little while now.
Anyway, the channel change page on the TWC Dallas site still lists only the additional sub channels - that change image from the last page in this thread still hasn't been picked up there. Just FYI... |

| reply to dennis1x36 Has anyone noticed any changes to their on-demand menu? After you have watch your selection, it goes into the "Saved Movie" menu. When you select your saved movie, you do not have a choice to delete it anymore. Apparently you have to wait for the 24 hrs for it to automaticely delete. |
