Re: [Cable] Dallas/Ft Worth Metro Vol I -- Time Warner

Same problems here. I have had to resort each day to seeing which programs will record using the series programming option and then manually record programs that the series programming has missed. As others have said, if you look at future showings, it is when they don't show up as airing on the HD channels that the problem occurs.

Thanks for responding guys. My complaint has been escalated up the chain of command, and I am awaiting a tech response to the issue.

Sorry you are stuck in my boat, but TWC got an ear full from me when convinced them finally that is was not my box and their software that was bad. They had no answers to the issue, or why it started two weeks ago during House.

It sure does suck having to double check every morning if my shows are recording. I will post again when I receive an answer. I imagine it will not get fixed unless they role out a new firmware and software update. I should have become a programmer, that's for sure.

I have heard that the last firmware update, the one that caused the series recording problems, was supposed to address the "freaking out" of the box when trying to use the FF and RW adn other remote control buttons. I have noticed that my box has less freak out sessions and it does seem to act more promptly, but now it don't record. Six of one...

ALL of these problems have existed since at least 2005.

DCH6416. Third one this year.

Only problem I have ever had recording a series since the option was rolled out started two weeks ago. Before then this issue with shows disappearing from the air times list never happened.

Agreed TWC software seems to have been programmed by a moron and it does suck. Still waiting to hear from their tech support. I also am weighing my options on ditching this company.

What has me thinking of dropping TWC is the fact that they think as long as you can "surf the internet" with your browser then they have met their obligations regarding internet service. If the "quality" of the connection as far as latency, jitter, etc., is poor, which impacts ones ability to use the internet for other things such as gaming or VoIP, then that is just too bad according to tech support.

On the TV side, I am getting very tired of the slow response of the box, frequent pixelation of the image, and now these series recording problems.

Don't get me started about the internet. TWC email service is beyond pathetic. Lately, I have had the fun problem of emails I send going to my draft folder instead of being sent to intended recipients. No way of just dumping the trash folder without opening it up and checking all the emails, and the constant logging out if you remain idle for a few minutes.

TWC customer service had no clue what was going on.

I also love how TWC run the EAS required tests in the middle of prome time network viewing so that the recordings are interupted for 5 minutes while that stupid test runs.

Right now it is better for us to cancel service, and then sigh back up to get the free movie stations and cheaper bills, even if it is for only a few months. I have had cable for over 20 years, and I have seen each company that has taken over my service get worse and worse. TWC is by far the worst company I have dealt with in 20 years, they treat customers like crap, and are clueless as to how their system works.

Here is my email I got from Time Warner Cable. Looks like they have just figured out that there software is not working, and they are stumped at how to fix it. I hope this helps you guys out, but at least they "say" they are aware of the issue and working on it.

I bet they never fix it though.

"Thank you for contacting Time Warner Cable. We understand that you are having some issues with your DVR recording series from an HD channel. We certainly do apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you.

We (Time Warner Cable) are aware of this problem. We are currently working with Motorola to find a solution for this issues. We are aware that the series recording feature does not work with HD channels. However you are able to set individual recording and not encounter any problems. Until we are able to find a solution this is the suggested means to record on HD channels.

At this time we have not been given an estimated time to resolve this issue. We will keep your account information on file and once a resolution has become available we will notify you with that information.

There is no need to return your current DVR (and exchange it for another DVR) for this issue."

How nice of them to keep charging me full price when their service is not working. What a company.

what firmware version do you have if you dont know how to find out go to:
1) hit menu on remote 2x
2) scroll to setup and select it
3) scroll to cable box setup and select it
4) scroll to to select to display and select it and you should have your info.

There were were no games on Center Ice today. They were all nationally televised on Versus & NHL Network.

Last I checked it was the latest and greatest.

FW= 18.46
SW= 74.54-4003

I got onto a firmware/software TWC list to check and these were supposedly the latest, and the updates were listed as correcting the cable box freezing that has been going on for a while now.

Seems TWC agreed and confirmed that HD channels are not recording through series recording.

Whether TWC just updated their guide for the new seasons, not sure if there was an actual SW or FW update, or whether they tweaked their own software, my box went into a forced reboot during House the other week, and ever since that forced reboot, the issues have been popping up. It was the first night of the new TV season.

Been told it's a software issue on their end.

Thanks, just picked one up.

It's lighter, less noise, and black in finish. I don't suppose the unit upconvert all sources to 1080P ? there's option to select TV resolution formats.
