| No Thanks....
My kurobox (linkstation minus HD) was something like $175 shipped. It's got a 250GB IDE hard drive (leftover from project).
Runs mldonkey, headless, and has a low power consumption (19 watts peak - »www.kurobox.com/mwiki/index.php/···box_Wiki ). Not only does it do bittorrent, it also does 3 or 4 other p2p network applications.
I don't want my router running that garbage...thats why it sits in my DMZ on a machine i don't care about
It also does my mrtg graphs, router logs, and several other things. It COULD be a WAP, provided i added a USB WiFi dongle - but i leave that up to the WRT54GL. |

1 edit | reply to fcisler I use a modified Xbox running debian as a LAMP server with a 250 GB HD, Torrentflux 2.1, and SAMBA.
It works essentially the same way as this product. It's incredible for using just as a SOHO server, and for use as a set-and-forget BT/P2P download box. |

| reply to fcisler I agree. I have both a kurobox and a modded xbox. The kurobox runs torrentflux like a dream as well as SABnzbd for newsgroup binaries. I don't really care about otehr p2p, but its nice to know its there if I need it. I thought about using the xbox for this function as someone commented elsewhere, but the kurobox consumes something like only 17 watts of power, and is basically silent and cool running. The xbox is a power hog, is loud and hot as hell, and plus I am already using it (xbmc) to watch the videos i download to the kurobox share, plus play the occasional game. I didn't want to have to interrupt my downloads if I wanted to play splinter cell or something. |
